My experience with Donald at otter storage was definitely something that I just have to share. My unit got stuck and I couldn't access my things. Thankfully, Donald was there to help immediately. He was incredibly patient and knowledgeable, guiding me through the process to get the unit open. His customer service was top-notch, and he really went above and beyond to ensure I was taken care of. I appreciate his professionalism and willingness to help in a tough situation. Highly recommend him if you ever need assistance at the storage facility! ... Read more

I recommend u don't use this storage place.i have had so many issues here 1st they raise the rent every couple of months stating it's due to the increasing cost to run it.2nd alot of my items have gotten stole from there which is kind of hard when u have a locked gate and locked entry. This is the worse storage place I have ever used. ... I only had a unit for a month but the facility is subpar. There are no dollies or handcarts like at most storage places and the ramp feels like it's going to give out in a few places. It is very difficult to navigate the doors, especially if you're moving something large. I'm pretty sure this is a fire/safety violation but you can't exit the property unless you're in a vehicle. The pedestrian exit/door is marked DO NOT USE and you can't get the gate open on foot. Oh and despite the website saying a lock will be provided, it is not. Two stars for easy sign-up and move-out online. ... Read more

I’ve rented here for a long time, since before Otter took over. The first full year after they took over they raised my rent 90%. They did a bunch of construction to add more walls and doors (I assume to help with their terrible ‘climate control’) so it’s very inconvenient to move things in and out of the building. All the while there were still leaks all throughout the building. They removed any on-site presence so the aisles and grounds were never cleaned. Then someone broke in and started living in the building and stealing peoples belongings. They finally sorted that mess out but did a horrible job of it. I was called to come “claim my belongings” despite never being notified of anything being stolen. Fortunately they just screwed up their databases and my unit was unaffected. However, from then on I had issues with my gate code not working and telling me to ‘see the manager’ who isn’t onsite. Also none of the 704 phone numbers plastered on the building actually work. I was able to get the 800 number from the manager I had previously dealt with regarding the break ins but I’ve had to call and reset my gate code every time I came to the property. I just got another notice that they intended to raise my rent another 40% “Due to increasing costs associated with providing you the best possible self-storage experience.” I’m actually glad they did because it finally motivated me to find another storage unit to house my things. It does appear that they’ve had the leaks fixed now however when I finally got in to the building after resetting my gate code again, the whole place reeked of mildew and EVERYTHING in my unit had mildew on it. I’ve had to clean everything and throw things away before moving to a new location where I can rent a unit twice as big for a fraction of the cost, with adequate climate control and upkeep. DO NOT RENT FROM OTTER STORAGE. ... Read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! They have a bad rat problem. They got into all my boxes and chewed up clothes, unopened non perishable food items, chords, and books. There's no actual roof in the unit. There is just a netting. Evidently the roof leaked into the unit and caused Mold on everything. I had a lot completely ruined. I rented a large unit but could only move out about 60% of my things due to damage by the mold or the rats. They have vehicle and RV parking. We noticed someone was living in their RV in the parking lot. I chose the storage facility because they state on their website you have 24/7 access. WRONG!!! In Concord it's closed from 9pm-6am and states during those hours you are TRESPASSING. We were there until 10:15pm and the Owner called the police on us! I mean really we have a U- Haul so it's Obvious we were moving, but I guess it's fine that there are homeless people living in the buildings. One was riding his bike in the building. They don't provide dumpsters either or even bathrooms for their customers. The units are suppose to be climate controlled but they are not. I don't know what the other Otter Storage places are like but STAY AWAY FROM THE CONCORD LOCATION! We will only use units you can drive straight up to now. The loading and unloading from inside where the lights shut off about every 10 minutes, the doors lock, and not having any lights above the unit was ridiculous. RENTERS BEWARE! ... Read more

Go anywhere else! Access code never worked, luckily the door didn’t work either and was always unlocked. Building leaked water and made my belongings nasty and moldy. Mostly personal photos and childhood memorabilia. Nothing of monetary value, so an insurance claim would be pointless. When I requested a refund on 1 months rent, I was casually blown off. Check out the photos. Water marks and mold in multiple areas. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Otter Self Storage - 455 Spring Street NW include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Gate, Unstaffed Location, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 250 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Otter Self Storage - 455 Spring Street NW start from $30 and can go up to $175 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
