This is one of the worst run Uhaul facilities I have ever dealt with. I reserved a truck for a local, 4-hour move, on Sunday April 6th. I arrived at the scheduled time and the Uhaul App reported that there was no equipment assigned to me despite the fact that there were 4 trucks in the parking lot and that I had a confirmed reservation. No one seems to work at MidGard so I chatted with their virtual support staff. They said they didn't get any lockbox codes from Uhaul so there was nothing they could do. I had to call U-haul and spend close to an hour on the phone with multiple people only to learn that there was nothing they could do. I ended up driving to the closest, staffed, U-haul location in Asheville where I had to pay more for a larger, one-way, rental vehicle. When I was done with the vehicle two hours later, I dropped it off at the Midgard location on Ecusta Road. Needless to say, I was quite displeased but had decided that I would not post this negative review. That changed when I received a text the today from U-Haul stating that my truck was to have been returned yesterday and that it was now overdue! So, I hope the owner of the Ecusta Road Midgard facility sees this review. And I hope you will take to heart that if you're going to put U-haul's name on the door and act as their agent, then you should take responsibility to see that your shared customer is served. Receiving a portion of the revenue but deflecting responsibility to U-haul when things don't go as they should is irresponsible and deserving of this review. And the fact that it's now been 24 hours since I returned the truck and none of your employees have bothered to validate that the equipment is in your parking lot with the key in your lockbox is further reason why a prospective customer should reconsider doing business at your location. ... This was a clean and tidy storage space. Great rodent control. The weather controlled aspect is a great feature. I have art supplies that are sensitive to temperature and I was definitely pleased to know that none of my supplies were damaged, compared to my the last storage unit I had down in Florida which didn’t have non of these features. Safety was another concern that was well taken care of. I never felt unsafe coming here as there are a lot of cameras and they do give you a code. Would highly recommend! ... Read more

Raised prices during the hurricane when a lot of families were needing a place to put items. Now is charging a lock rental fee and demanding that you remove your lock and you can only use their locks. There are plenty of other storage companies in town who are not this scummy. Use one of them instead. I will never keep my belongings here ever again. ... Read more

This is the nicest and cleanest storage facility in the area, hands down. The employee that works there, Jarrett, is always friendly whenever I come by and he's working. He recently went above and beyond by helping me fit a heavy item into my unit. It may be on the pricier side, but it's worth it for the peace of mind of knowing your items are safe. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Midgard Self Storage - 196 Ecusta Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Parking, First Floor Access and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Midgard Self Storage - 196 Ecusta Road start from $93 and can go up to $217 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
