Read some helpful reviews of Extra Space Storage at 7 Roberts Road, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

They just jacked up the rental price for my unit that I've had for 6 months by double 100 to 200 a month. Then they lied and claimed to send and email about it in February. Do yourself and everyone you know a favor and steer clear of these opportunist gougers. They run this place like they used to own fun depot. Disgraceful ... Read more

Please God, save yourself the hassle and avoid this place like the plague. Started paying for a unit, get there, the code they gave me to access the building doesn’t work. I call them to ask if they gave me the wrong code, they say no, this is a CONSISTENT ISSUE. They then give me a universal code that is the easiest thing to guess in the world. I definitely feel that my items are safe here... Oh well, I get into the building using the ridiculously easy code and find my unit. There’s no lock. I was expressly informed there would be a lock. They said I’ll need to drive 30 minutes to their other location to pick one up because the last one must have been taken. I say “no, I can’t do that, this was supposed to be taken care of for me.” They then say they’ll have someone out with a new lock in a couple of days. I come back THE NEXT DAY, an entire 24 hours later… still no LOCK. On top of all of this you can’t access the place after 9pm, which is ridiculously early for a self-serve location with no employees. What’s the point? Please don’t give this terrible company your money. Once this month is up I certainly won’t be. They should be ashamed of themselves. ... Read more

I dispise leaving negative reviews. On my move-in day, the entry code did not work (I could not get in the building) and the freight elevator was broken. I called the manager's number, was given a temp entry code, and was promised there would not be a charge for the 1st month due to the problems.. I carried all my storage items up the stairs and put them in the unit. I am almost 70 and it was hard to move everything, but I finally got it completed. I discovered that the company Did Charge Me for the 1st month. I called 4x and talked with a "message taker" each time. Each time I have been promised that I would receive a call back within 24 hours. After 3 weeks of waiting, I can say with unwavering authority, this company has -0-concern for the community, has made -0- effort to contact me and has made -0- effort to resolve the problem. Buyer Be Ware. This company is not a good company to deal with. They own multiple locations. I Strongly Suggest you seek storage elsewhere. ... Read more

This is for the Asheville location on Roberts Rd. Tried many times to speak with someone to get a larger climate control unit, no response ever so we found another place. We terminated lease, spoke with 2 different customer service reps and left a voicemail, also sent an email that we were doing so. Still being invoiced and never saw a credit on our bill last month for hurricane relief. They also had no problem using American Express to get the initial fees, never said anything about not taking it for payment each month. What a joke this place is. Don’t recommend!! I am giving it a one star because I can't post unless I click on something. Otherwise, it wouldn't get any stars. ... Read more
Tammy B. - 3 March 2025
This facility is predatory, they raised the rent every 2 to 3 months, no communication from management, facility feels unsafe with random men roaming the property, people undressing and bathing in the parking lot, horrific stink bug investation, no onsite staff. Towards the end several units were broken into, but management never informed customers, I only found out through another review. Management makes a big show about answering your review and offering a contact email, yet never replies to emails or phone calls. NEVER. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Extra Space Storage - 7 Roberts Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Parking, Elevators, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 384 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Extra Space Storage - 7 Roberts Road start from $42 and can go up to $380 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
