The owner is responsive to phone calls and easy to work with, and it’s affordable. The only downside is that the storage units aren’t completely clean. The floor of the storage units is dusty and the roof is made of wires, so it’s possible for pigeons to sit on top and poop on your stuff. It doesn’t happen often, but just to be safe, if you want to avoid the pigeons you should choose a storage unit farther away from the doors, and close the doors after you’re done moving your stuff to keep the pigeons out. We had a storage unit extremely close to the doors. After a month of using the storage unit there was a small white stain on one of our items. ... Read more

My partner and I were planning to move to a new apartment so we rented a storage unit for a month to make the move easier. We were lucky to get a storage unit super close to the doors to move our stuff. They are helpful and responsive to phone calls. Our storage unit was $90 per month, plus an extra $90 that we had to pay in the beginning that would be refunded once we stopped using the storage unit. The owner said we would get a $90 check in the mail. After a few weeks the check didn’t come and I was worried it might’ve been sent to the wrong address. I called Alpert’s storage and he gave me a phone number to reach another lady who handles the finances. I called her and the address they had was the correct address, so I wondered if the mail was just slow because of the holidays. Two days later the check arrived which means it really was just the mail being slow. There’s a downside to the storage unit floor being kind of dusty. It’s like a basement floor; it’s not clean enough to put things like clothes or stuffed animals directly on the floor. You want to put them inside boxes or on top of other things. Also the roof of the storage unit is not solid; it’s a frame of wires which means pigeons can sit on top and poop on your stuff. Most of the time they keep the doors closed to keep pigeons out but there’s still a chance of it happening, especially if your storage unit is close to the doors. If you rent a unit far away from the doors it won't happen as much. After a month of sitting in storage there was a little bit of a white stain on one of the items but it wasn’t too big of a deal, and it was only one small stain. I’ll still give them 5 stars anyway because having this storage unit helped us move out of our old apartment on time, they didn’t scam us, and they’re responsive to phone calls. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Alpert-s Storage Center - 1641 North Main Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Parking and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
