    I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Extra Space Storage and would not recommend this facility. The biggest issue is what feels like a classic bait-and-switch on pricing. The introductory rate seemed reasonable, but it increased significantly not long after moving in. The way the pricing is structured feels misleading — low to get you in the door, then raised once you’re committed. On top of that, management has threatened customers with fees and even collections over throwing away trash in the dumpster area. Simply disposing of trash became an issue, with warnings about additional charges. The tone of communication is aggressive and intimidating rather than professional or customer-focused. Snow removal has also been poorly handled. After a horrible snowstorm, the property was not properly cleared. Drive lanes and access areas were inadequately plowed, creating unsafe and inconvenient conditions for tenants trying to reach their units. Basic property maintenance should not be this inconsistent, especially when customers are paying steadily increasing rates. Another major frustration is that the site will close access for “maintenance” with nothing more than a paper sign taped to the door. No advance notice, no proper communication — just a sign. Meanwhile, customers are still charged full price even when they cannot access their units. Between the surprise rate hikes, threats over trash disposal, poor snow removal, and lack of communication about closures, this has been a very disappointing experience.     Got my storage less than a year raised the price a couple times I was told it may raise every year not multiple times a year? I should've researched more but mom was dying got storage a few months then she passes and they raise the price then we're trying to deal with everything boom price increase again geez. I really was hoping I would like this place because they were friendly but with the beginning had to climb flights of stairs with all my items because the elevator didn't work and it wasn't one time it was multiple days I came the last time I could not take stuff back that's why we took stairs when elevators were broken. Just watch out for price increase not a little either like almost double and sometimes over double it's crazy yeah they try to help lower it but I mean when u are increasing let's just give example say 100 increase then 100 increase again and that's less than a year 200 increase in less than year u see how that's just so much money.     We were with them a little while but the last few months were not good. First I went in to add stuff to my unit, however the elevator near my unit was broke down. Then several weeks later I had to get something from my storage unit and there were signs hanging up saying the the bathroom was not working. Finally a couple of weeks after that I received a notice that my locker rent was going to be raised. I expect a little each year, but they were going to almost double the cost, which is excessive.     Leasing a storage locker turned out to be a surprisingly smooth and positive experience! From the initial inquiry to moving my belongings in, the entire process was handled with professionalism and care. The facility itself is clean, well-lit, and feels very secure, which immediately put my mind at ease about storing my valuable items. The staff I interacted with were incredibly helpful and friendly.     Was here for almost 2 years. We lived in Newark so the drive was quick and easy down Rt 1 so super accessible. No complaints about anything, the place was well kept and had no real issues at all. Our rental for our 5x9 unit jumped about $50 when we decided to move out, which is the only real reason for us leaving, but assuming that’s just the new cost of storage units these days now. Satara in the office was super nice getting everything squared away for the move out. Would consider this location again if we moved closer and pricing was a little less expensive, but please know you’re getting a nice place for the price. ... Read more

    The employees here are very helpful, they were very nice and assisted a lot every time we needed anything. The units are easy to use and I liked the security of it. But we had our unit for only three months before our price DOUBLED ($80 to $160 for 5x10). I know the price we registered for was promotional, but doubling for a small unit is crazy!. We decided to move out and while we were in the office waiting for help, we overheard an employee saying their algorithm is what doubles the price, but they can “work with us”. However I was constantly receiving calls about my payments being late (times are hard, sometimes I have to wait until payday). When they called me, they should’ve noticed that my price doubled and offered to help. When moving out, we noticed a bunch of our stuff had mold on it. Any fabric material that wasn’t in a container was covered in mold. Mold growth for only being in a unit for six months is horrible. So much for climate control.
