Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage at 850 Simms Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Alyson S. - 12 February 2026
I’m giving this storage four stars only due to the customer service that exists with the manager there John. John is an exceptional asset to the business of public storage. Public storage itself as a company is awful. The constant scamming & lack of transparency of payments is unbelievable. I would not be there if it weren’t for the high Customer Service that John offers. Thanks John! ... Read more

This is more a review for the company, Public Storage, which sucks, though this is the location of my unit. They get you in with a low price and then raise it, constantly. It was ok at first, the intro offer expires, alright. But it just keeps going. My rate has been raised 5 times in 2 years and I was just informed that my rate will go up by another $70/month for a total of $390/month for a 10x20. There's no price transparency at all and it's maddening. Then they have the utter gall to try to charge you even more to get access to your unit after 9pm and frame it like an awesome new perk. Luckily, I pack all my stuff up for an event once a year and it'll be easy for me to move to a new spot, which I will absolutely do. It's not the fault of the local folks working there, but I cannot wait to free myself from the tyranny of Public Storage. I'll avoid this company for the rest of my life. ... Read more

Bless Russ at this location of Public storage but grateful to run into HIM DOING A ROUND and ask him about how to reduce my bill on the Insurance question but he gave me a better solution so I’m happy to see that instead of paying $121 in September for 2025 this month coming cause it’s still August 2025 it’ll be giving me a little bit more time to save up money to get into an apartment, which is what I really appreciate the flexibility at such short notice is not always available, but I’m grateful he checked to see if my account was flagged to not be charged to partially or prorated. I’m not sure the term is. I don’t want to assume too much but grateful for the discount because I do appreciate flexibility at this time given the moving situation that everyone else goes through finding an apartment still learning about the new policies that I didn’t know I had to afford besides a credit score?, thank you RUSS FOR TELLING ME ABOUT THE UNIT NEEDS INSURANCES RENTAL MANDATORY IS WHAT I’M STILL LEARNING HOW TO RESEARCH WHAT’S MORE AFFORDABLE BUT I’M GLAD FLEXIBILITY IS ALLOWED AT THIS LOCATION. GRATEFUL TO RUN INTO HIM WHILE TALKING WAS NICE CONVERSATIONS. THANK YOU FOR THE SAVING ILL be more happy to make sure that it goes towards my first month rent. I’m still searching for this month and in September so grateful for the savings in 2025 I’m hoping to keep track of it in my quote and budget books for future recommendations. ... Read more

Rent went up from 77mo to 101mo I believe with out proper time notifications. Also Sunday 3/30/25 I was rudely acosted by woman employee accusing me of trespassing when I've been a paying customer on time for over a year. Very rude should be fired. ... Read more

John is total bad ass. I mentioned I was experiencing hardships, so he took it upon himself to pull up my profile and saw that I was eligible for a price reduction on the rent for my storage unit. Saved me like 50 bucks a month! Give that man a promotion with a raise. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 850 Simms Street include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 250 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 850 Simms Street start from $41 and can go up to $240 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
