Read some helpful reviews of Basalt Mini Storage at 101 Horizon Loop, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Terribly managed. Sent my refund check with the wrong name. When I went in to resolve the issue, the very rude receptionist stated that my account was under that name. Very confused how that’s possible when you have to hand over your drivers license to open a unit? I’ve spoken with that receptionist prior and every interaction we have had, she is very condescending and rude. She seems to take delight in pissing people off. To be clear I am not speaking about the dark skinned receptionist, but the Caucasian one with short hair. ... Read more

I had a great experience with Basalt Mini Storage. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The climate controlled building was secure, clean and well maintained. All of our belongings were in the same shape as when we first rented. I would recommend them to anyone who needs storage here in the valley. ... Read more

I have to say I don’t leave a lot of reviews but this place deserves one. Simply put, very poorly maintained units, and there is one particular lady there that shouldn’t be allowed to speak to the customers. There are other employees that seem kind, but the lady that runs the show is disgustingly rude and condescending. There are so many other storage units in the Roaring Fork Valley that are cheaper yet you still receive more space and infinitely better customer service. I would rather store my items under a tarp than give this woman my money. Look elsewhere I assure you you’ll find more for less. ... Read more

For starters, one of the women there is the rudest most unprofessional women I’ve ever spoken to. Secondly, the outdoor units aren’t sealed at all and anything you have will be completely covered in dust, grime, leaves and spiders. Third, when I closed my unit I cleaned everything out spotless, went inside the office and spoke in person to 2 very nice women who closed my account and let me know everything was ok and I was all set. They said I was good to go and everything was done, then 3 days later I was charged the $150 rent anyway. An awful woman called and said I didn't "confirm in writing" that I had moved out so she would only refund $120 of the rent. They are running this little scam there to take extra money from their customers when they move to a BETTER storage facility. They have the nice women in the office tell you everything is set and you are good to go and then the miserable troll harasses you and tells you that you didn't put it in writing so they can charge you fees and take pocket the extra cash. So in addition to it being the worst facility to store your items in the valley, they also scam you when you leave. I got literally DOUBLE the space for the same price just 10 minutes down valley at Royal Mini Storage and that place is well kept and isn't run by an intoxicated ogre. ... Read more

Great Experience! The people running this facility are always prompt, pleasant, and accommodating. I had no issue whatsoever with reserving and renting one of their units on a super short (less than 24hr) notice. The facility is immaculate and secured, as well as conveniently located just off of highway 82. Keep up the great work! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Basalt Mini Storage - 101 Horizon Loop include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 12 to 150 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Basalt Mini Storage - 101 Horizon Loop start from $100 and can go up to $468 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
