When we looked the the house initially, we were pleased with the house but questioned why FirstKey hadn't properly renovated certain aspects. They covered the kitchen countertops, cabinets, bathroom vanities and sinks, and shower enclosures in FLAT WHITE PAINT to give the appearance of it being new. This has caused a lot of issues--making it impossible to keep everything looking fresh and clean. Flat paint + water = lots of peeling and chipping. Who does this? They didn't change the air filters before we moved in, or bother to remove debris (legos, dead spiders, etc) from the floor vents. The laminate flooring was in fair condition at best & coated in some spots with mist from the flat white paint they sprayed on everything. Railroad ties rotting all over the property and a bunch of accidental trees that should have been cut down long ago. We've had to make multiple repairs to the rotting cedar fence that should have been replaced when they bought the house. Now, they're raising our rent so much that we won't be able to afford it. We feel helpless, trapped, and like we got duped by this big, evil corporation.
