The Lofts at Saco Falls opened in September 2016. It repurposed an empty 19th century factory building into a thriving residential complex. Built in two stages in 1842 and 1867, The Lofts for over 100 years was home to a machine shop where machines for weaving textiles were designed and built. It features 80 brand new one and two bedroom apartments. Many of these overlook a large landscaped courtyard with granite benches and flowering trees. The apartments vary in size from 575 to 968 square feet.The Lofts takes advantage of the beautiful original architectural features, including 11-foot ceilings, large windows and exposed carrying beams. Good but could be better

I love some aspects of living in downtown Biddeford including the walkable access to so many businesses. However, as a family with a small child it's concerning the amount of police presence we see here. There's years of filth gathered in the light fixtures and corners of the stairways. The windows haven't been washed in over 4 yrs. Vacuuming is done weekly but little else appears to be occurring. Thankfully the laundry machines are being replaced which was very much needed. Accounting errors have occurred with our invoice where we are being charged for items never disclosed or long since paid. As a family, we are focused on moving into a more hospitable place for our daughter, where she'll have access to a outside play area and we can feel safe knowing she lives in a healthy and safe environment.
