A popular vacation and business destination, Anaheim has been growing and developing since 1890. From the Victorian architecture alongside modern homes, the Colony historic district and Disneyland’s castles, with the majestic mountains of the Santa Ana Canyon in the background, there’s plenty to admire here.

Since 2008, the city has been working hard to double the number of residential and commercial space in the Platinum Triangle area around Angel Stadium, and to offer its residents a new rapid transit system.

With the help of Google Street View, we compiled a collection of interactive time-lapse images showing how Anaheim has evolved in recent years. Simply hold and drag the arrow left and right to see the images:

1. Walnut Village Retirement Community – West Anaheim

Year Built: 2009

Walnut Village is managed by nonprofit Front Porch, and is one of the top rated retirement centers in the area. The community provides assisted living in a shop lined village square, and has received multiple awards and recognition for its quality of services.

2. SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate – Anaheim Resort

Year Built: 2014

SpringHill Suites’ new hotel in Anaheim was built near Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center, offering business-like interiors, an on-site snack shop and fitness center, and modern, boutique meeting spaces.

3. Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance – Anaheim Resort

Year Built: 2015

The new vibrant 6-story Courtyard Marriott in Anaheim is located in close proximity to the park entrance, boasting a family-friendly atmosphere, and and onsite water park. The hotel provides a unique blend of mission and modern design.

4. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Anaheim Resort Area – Anaheim Resort

Year Built: 2016

With a blend of traditional and modern architecture, the new Holiday Inn Express & Suits Anaheim Resort Hotel offers out-of-towners plenty of guest space, an onsite pool and splash area, and is located right off the highway and steps to Downtown Disney.

5. SpringHill Suites – Anaheim Resort

Year Built: 2014

The SpringHill Suites building puts visitors right in the heart of Anaheim, with close to the resort and Anaheim convention center, as well as downtown. Modern design, kid-friendly interiors, an on-site pharmacy and coffee and tea shop all make for a great addition to Anaheim’s tourism.

6. Hyatt Place at Anaheim Resort and Convention Center

Year Built: 2014

Another new hotel just down the street, Hyatt offers guests walking access to resorts, convention center events, the farmer’s market, garden walk, and art walks. Standing out from the others on the list, Hyatt Place boasts architectural elements that reflect the interior’s more business-like minimalist chic design.

7. Kaiser Permanente Orange County Anaheim Medical Center – Canyon District

Year Built: 2012

One of the largest employers in Anaheim has opened a new 434,000-square-foot medical facility to replace the old 1979 Lakeview Hospital. The new campus sits around a 3-acre ‘healing garden’, offers 262 private rooms, labor and delivery rooms, emergency treatment bays, and a helipad.

8. The Crossing Apartments – Canyon District

Year Built: 2010

The sustainably-built Crossing rental apartments boast a bold exterior with modern lines and a dash of color. The LEED Gold Certified apartment building has a 94% landfill diversion and 75% recycling rate during the construction process.

9. Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) – Platinum Garden

Year Built: 2014

The spaceship-shaped ARTIC is a bold addition to the architectural landscape of Anaheim. This transport hub’s exterior was created to maximize sustainability. 20% of the energy used by the building is solar-sourced, and it lights up in bright colors at night. The LEED Platinum Certified project was the winner of the 2015 Public Works Project of the Year Award.

10. Ajax La Palma Business Center – Canyon District

Year Built: 2014

With an impressive size of 100,000 square feet, this is one of the largest industrial real estate projects built in the Anaheim area in years. The industrial-looking business center was done by Ottomans Construction.
