Ways to Make Your Apartment Winter-Cozy

Fall is officially here, and while some of us were hoping summer would last just a little bit longer, now we have no choice but to embrace this colorful season and prepare for what’s next – winter.

Fortunately, whether you’re looking for an apartment for rent or you already have a place to call home, a cozy apartment will make getting through the cold season that much easier. So, below are some ideas to turn your rental into the coziest retreat in the colder months ahead.

Throw Blankets, Pillows and Bedding

There’s nothing like wrapping yourself in a throw blanket when it’s chilly outside. With that in mind, and especially as movie nights become the preferred evening activity, make sure you always have a blanket nearby, as well as pillows to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Along the same lines, now is the time to switch your light-weight sheets and duvet for a thicker, heavier comforter. But, keep in mind that, while this will allow you to stay warm as you sleep without having to buy thick pajamas, it will also make it more difficult to leave your bed in the morning.

Candles and Warm Colors

Lighting candles throughout your apartment can also help a lot during the winter season. Not only do they provide extra light as daylight diminishes earlier in the day, but they also fill your home with pleasant, warm scents. In particular, opt for spicier, winter aromas, such as cinnamon, peppermint, citrus, pine, and cedar. This way, you’ll not only feel the coziness, but you’ll smell it too. Likewise, warm colors throughout your apartment can also give you a sense of a warmer space – so, not only will it feel cozy, but it will also look cozy to anyone who walks in.

Hot Drinks and Baked Goods

While you’re wrapped up in your blankets, leaning on your pillows and watching your favorite movie by candlelight, the only thing that could make it even better is a mug of hot chocolate or tea and some warm, freshly baked cookies. Besides, coziness should be felt on the inside, too, and no winter season is complete without a hot beverage and home-baked treats.

While most of us are probably not the biggest fans of the cold weather, the winter season does come with its own unique charm and advantages. So, embrace the season and make the most of your time at home, by turning your apartment into the coziest place to spend this winter.
