Best Apps for Pet-Sitting

Rover is the platform you need when you don’t have any friends to pet sit. On it, you can find pet sitters reviewed by other pet parents to make sure your furry baby is in good hands. You can even book and pay securely on the app, as well as find doggy day care, dog walking, house-sitting and even boarding services for when you’re away.

Another great platform for finding pet sitters is Wag! With plenty of options for sitters — all of them vetted — it’s easy to let go of your worries and enjoy the convenience. In fact, Wag! has a long tradition of helping pet parents find suitable people to care for their pets. It also offers wide coverage so you’re sure to find what you need in your area.

Best Apps for Pet Monitoring & Tracking

Tractive is a GPS device that comes with a free app so you can follow your pets anywhere they go. Especially useful for outdoor cats and pets that like to wander, this will be the end of your worries as you’ll be able to monitor their whereabouts at all times.

Want to check on your pets when you’re away, but don’t have a dedicated camera? Pet Monitor VIGI is an app that allows you to turn one device into a monitor camera and pair it with your phone. This way, you can check on your pets even when you’re not at home. As long as your home device is connected to Wi-Fi, you’ll have access to a live stream of your pet. You can also install the app on any of your devices and use family sharing to give access to other co-owners.

Especially useful for people who are transitioning back to working in an office, Dog Monitor is a tool to help with separation anxiety. You can use it to watch live HD videos of your pet and see what they’re doing at any time; track their activity and check for abnormal behavior when you’re away; record commands or speak to your pet via the app; and hear them being themselves at home. The app is private and safe, and you can share access with co-owners, as well.

Best Apps for Pet Health

Whistle is an app that promises peace of mind. With innovative tracking technology, this app is perfect for preventive care, tracking your pet’s behavior (including scratching, licking and fitness), and analyzing outliers and abnormal patterns to keep you informed and alert. With a 4.6/5 rating, Whistle is an app you can rely on, as well as a staple in pet wearables.

  • Pet First Aid

Pet first aid is not a skill that many people have, so having an app with expert advice can be a lifesaver. Created by the Red Cross, this app contains advice from vets on how to deal with various emergencies, as well as videos and interactive quizzes to help you learn pet first aid and be prepared for any situation.

Paw Print allows you to track your pet’s medical records and have everything easily accessible in one convenient app. You can also use this app for official medical records and important information that you might need to share with groomers, hotels and more, as well as set reminders for appointments and dates. Plus, you can also add co-owners and friends to your pet’s profile in case they need access to it when pet-sitting, for example.

Best Apps for Pet Care

DogLog is a smart digital binder for keeping track of all things about your pet. A one-stop app for all of your pet’s activities, dates, appointments and chores, DogLog is a convenient app that allows you to store and analyze data to create or enforce a routine. Within the app, you can add photos to log your pet’s activities; set up notifications and reminders for various events; aggregate health records; and connect all of your pet caretakers to have access to your pet’s log. As such, when anyone performs any activity with the dogs such as giving medicine, food or walking they log the event and the other members receive notifications so that everyone is up-to-date with all the activities related to your dogs.

The 11 Pets app is designed for collaborative pet care and is especially useful for people who foster, as well as for shelters and professionals. Contributors can log and share information about various pets and then work together to offer them the best care possible. Here, you can add complete records — such as medicine, home care and hygiene — as well as preventive treatment, like vaccinations, for everyone to be aware of each pet’s records.

Best Apps for Pet Training

Another training platform is Puppr. It offers easy video instructions for training your pet; lessons on various behaviors and how to achieve them; progress tracking; and live chat with trainers for additional support. Moreover, all of the lessons provided within the app are taught with positive reinforcement, and you can even use it to set reminders for training and potty schedules.

Dogo is a training platform with personalized training programs. First, you take a short test so that trainers can recommend a tailored program. Then, as you’re progressing through it, you can send videos of your pet performing the actions and get feedback from trainers.

Good Pup is a training platform where you can connect with certified trainers to get advice via chat support; private, one-on-one training sessions; and comprehensive guides; as well as log daily tasks and progress check-ins. Consult with specialists to create a personalized training plan and teach your pet from the comfort of your own home.

Every Doggy is an app that offers guided video trainings and personalized puppy and adult training programs to teach your pet all of the essentials. Along with videos, you’ll also find problem-solving guides tackling the most common problems, as well as tricks and games you can play with your dog to turn training into an enjoyable activity for both of you.

Best Apps for Travelling & Shopping for Pets

Chewy is the online shop for everything pets. Whether you need food, toys, medicine or other products, you can find everything you need here. They also provide customer support for any issues you might have, in addition to a dedicated give-back program to help the community.

Bringing your pet with you while traveling can be daunting. On top of an additional responsibility, you can never be sure where pets are welcome and where they’re not. Bring Fido is the platform to end these worries. Here, you can browse thousands of hotels and restaurants to see which are pet-friendly, as well as to compare prices and make the best decision. You can also check for nearby pet amenities, such as hiking trails, parks, shopping destinations where you can take your pet, and more.

We hope these apps will help alleviate some of the stress and worry of being a pet parent. Technology offers us effortless convenience, so take advantage of these apps and all they have to offer.
