Setting up electricity in your new apartment shouldn’t feel like another full-time job. That’s why we’re happy to introduce the ResidentShield Power* service to RentCafe renters looking for an easier, more predictable way to manage electricity. This service, offered by RentCafe’s sister company, ResidentShield, brings affordable, fixed-rate power that’s easy to enroll in and simple to manage, all in one place.

It’s never been easier to set up electricity for your apartment

You don’t need to call utility companies, fill out paper forms, or wait on hold. You can set up your electricity as part of your move-in checklist, right after signing your lease, in the RentCafe portal. The process is fully digital and only takes a few minutes.

Once you’re in, you’ll get a confirmation email with everything you need, including your contract, the terms of service, and helpful electricity facts.

The best part is that you’ll have your electricity in place before moving day, so there’s one less thing to worry about while you pack.

Features that fit your lease

By setting up your power service through RentCafe, you get:

  • Fast utility setup that works with your schedule.
  • Fixed-rate options so your monthly costs won’t spike out of nowhere.
  • Billing that ends with your lease, so you’re never stuck paying for a place you’ve already left.
  • Easy management in the same dashboard you already use for your other resident services.

Already have electricity? It’s easy to switch.

If you already have an electricity provider, switching to ResidentShield’s service is a smooth process. After you enroll, ResidentShield Power will automatically handle the transfer from your old provider. All you need to do is upload proof of your current account, and everything else is taken care of.

If you’ve just secured an apartment with RentCafe, head to the move-in checklist in your portal to check if the ResidentShield Power service is available at your property. If it isn’t, check out the Power section on ResidentShield.com for more information.

And remember: The best time to set up your power is before move-in day. With just a few clicks, you can handle it quickly and spend the move-in day focused on making your new place feel like home.

Check out other essential services available with RentCafe. From renters insurance to flexible rent, the platform is designed to make renting easier and smarter.
