The Phoenix northwest Deer Valley neighborhood is an ever-expanding community with several outdoor spaces, including the Volcanic Adobe Mountains and the Adobe Dam Regional Park which includes the Adobe Mountain Train Museum, GoKart Racing, golfing, and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Water Park. This middle-class neighborhood is culturally diverse and full of a variety of eateries, shopping, and employment opportunities, making it a great option for those looking for apartments for rent in Deer Valley Village, to move to the area.

Location

Running along the 101 and Interstate 17, located in the northwestern section of Phoenix, Deer Valley borders the Desert View, North Mountain, and Paradise Valley neighborhoods, along with the cities of Peoria and Glendale. Along with the Adobe Mountains, this large community is near Scatter Wash, Apache Wash Trail Head, the Phoenix Mountain Preserves, and just 30 minutes from Lake Pleasant.

In the last two decades, Deer Valley has seen tremendous growth and that is visible in the number of new apartments, condominiums, townhomes, and single-family houses. This community has a wide range of properties for renters to choose from. In the northern section of Deer Valley, single-family homes make up the majority of rentals, while closer to I-17 and 101, more condos and apartments are being built. This neighborhood is full of smaller communities giving this northern part of the Valley a friendly vibe.

Deer Valley’s prime location near Interstate 10 and 17 may be the leading reason to call this neighborhood home. Part of what is considered North Phoenix, Deer Valley’s welcoming tight-knit community developments, beautiful desert landscape, diverse culture, and expansive shopping make Deer Valley a comfortable place to call home.

What to do in Deer Valley

This densely populated community has no shortage of shopping, family attractions, and outdoor areas.

Shopping in Deer Valley
With three major outdoor shopping centers nearby, Desert Ridge Marketplace, Happy Valley Towne Center, and Norterra residents have an abundance of choices when it comes to their purchase power. All three centers include a wide range of dining choices and house a theater. Desert Ridge and Norterra regularly have outdoor live music and holiday events like Nightly Snowfall at Christmas and a visit from the Easter Bunny in the spring.

Buffalo Ridge Park
Lighted basketball courts, softball fields, and a large covered playground are found at this large Deer Valley park. However, this incredible green paradise is more than just some courts and a playground – it is disc golf heaven. The challenging 18-hole course is full of desert shrubbery, rocks, and rough terrain. Most holes are furnished with flags peeking out from the thick brush. Buffalo Ridge Park is filled with hills allowing course elevation changes. Also, the park comes equipped with a 1.9-mile loop for hiking and mountain biking.

Turf Paradise
Surrounded by the majestic North Mountain range, Turf Paradise is the third-largest sport’s attraction in Arizona. The thoroughbred horse racetrack has been a main source of entertainment in the Valley since 1956. Turf Paradise offers thrilling live races year-round.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor
Formerly known as Wet-n Wild, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is 35 acres of pure unadulterated fun. The biggest waterpark in Arizona, Hurricane Harbor has 15 exhilarating rides and slides, along with 3 large children’s areas. Float down Adventure River for hours with or without a tube. Enjoy wave action, tipping buckets, and fast-flowing water. Hurricane Harbor is an all-day adventure with nine choices for lunch or dinner and even a bar. This is the most popular place in North Phoenix from Memorial Day through Halloween.

A diverse array of eateries are found in Deer Valley. Everything from Sushi to Barbecue is just a hop-skip-and-a-jump from anywhere in the community.

Sushi Style
Whether it’s a bento box, a fried roll, or traditional sushi, Sushi Style is the place in Deer Valley to get your sushi satisfaction filled. Located at 7th Street Plaza on the corner of North 7th Street and East Bell Road, Sushi Style is tucked away in the plaza with a shaded patio offering a great place for an outdoor dinner or happy hour.

NakedQ BBQ
Pulled pork, coleslaw, beans, cornbread, brisket, ribs, anything bbq, NakedQ BBQ has and has it on point. This local Texas-Barbecue inspired restaurant is a Deer Valley favorite. So much a favorite, that many residents order their Thanksgiving dinner from NakedQ.

Transportation

Residents rely heavily on public transit in this large urban village. Both the Valley Metro light rail and buses run through this populated area. There are many Park-and-Rides throughout Deer Valley, allowing residents to use the metro transit to commute to and from work in areas like downtown Phoenix which is approximately 20 minutes away.

Schools & Employment

The Deer Valley Unified School District (DVUSD) serves PreK through 12th grade throughout Deer Valley. DVUSD is the fifth largest district in Arizona serving not only Deer Valley, but parts of Glendale, Peoria, Anthem, and New River as well. The neighborhood also has a plethora of large employers such as HonorHealth, Wells Fargo Home Equity Call Center, PetSmart Corporate Headquarters, and Honeywell International.

Deer Valley is a perfect place to raise a family. With the small-town feel, tons of activities for families, top employers, easy access to all parts of Phoenix, and a convenient public transportation system Deer Valley is easy to fall in love with.
