Atlantic Station: An Upbeat & Entertaining Urban Neighborhood

Atlantic Station

Atlantic Station is an urban neighborhood in the heart of Atlanta, GA, bordered by Loring Heights and Home Park. It was developed in 2005, and it is known as a live-work-play community with office buildings, townhomes, apartments, entertainment venues, and retail spaces. The zone spread out to the point where it was given its own ZIP code: 30363.

The walkable neighborhood that covers 138 acres of land is made up of three areas: The District, The Village, and the Commons, each with its own vibe. Atlantic Station was designed to feature mostly energy-efficient buildings and to reduce air pollution by keeping things within walking distance of each other.

Lifestyle

Life here is anything but dull, which is why it is considered to be one of the most desirable places to live in. Get to choose among 30+ different shopping stores, ranging from home décor to jewelry and fashion. Foodies can indulge in discovering and testing 17 dining choices. There’s also a movie theatre here, a gym, an ice skating rink in the winter, and occasional Cirque du Soleil performances.

What to Do

Unwind over the weekend by making your way to the Millennium Gate Museum—a must-see whether you live or visit Atlantic Station. It is not only Atlanta’s award-winning monument but also a history museum in the center of the community, which also serves as a beautiful park. If you’re not interested in a history lesson, then you’re sure to appreciate the park and being outdoors, meeting and mingling with the neighbors.

Starting mid-November, both kids and grownups can enjoy one of the best activities in the neighborhood: Skate the Station! Lace-up your skates and take a spin around the largest outdoor rink in the southeast. Skate the Station is open through mid-February. The price of admission includes skate rentals. To top it off, parking is free for the first 2 hours in Atlantic Station’s parking deck.

The neighborhood also plays host to a variety of events—both during the week and on the weekend—in their central green space. Improve your strength, flexibility, and mind-body balance with the weekly yoga series, offering free open-air classes for all experience levels. Bike tours and marathons are also part of the activities organized regularly in this part of the town.

For quality indoor time, grab some popcorn and watch a movie at the Regal Atlantic Station 18 IMAX & RPX, featuring 18 screens, including 2 VIP lounge theaters. Or expect to be amazed by extraordinary shows and exhibitions, like Cirque du Soleil or The Bodies Exhibition.

If you’re in the mood for shopping, there’s no better place than Atlantic Station. It’s home to 35 stores—including the huge retailer IKEA, where you can easily lose a few hours daydreaming about interior design.

Where to Eat

Those who work in the area can enjoy a flavorful lunch at Naan Stop, the best in the ‘hood at bringing authentic Indian home cooking to you. Their most popular dish is the Chicken Tikka Masala but you should also try their Naanwich—a delicious wrap of meats, veggies, and chutneys in a fresh-baked naan—with a rice bowl, or a salad.

Stop by the popular Yard House, a classy sports bar serving “familiar items with a twist, while also keeping a pulse on the food trends of today”. Drop by during their weekly Happy Hour and enjoy the half-prized selected appetizers and pizzas. You’ll love it so much that you’ll want to offer Yard House gift cards to your friends, family, colleagues, and clients.

Families can often be seen unwinding by taking leisure strolls through the community and treating their little ones to a sweet bite at Great American Cookies. This is the go-to place if you’re craving a custom-decorated cookie cake, a rich brownie, and many other yummy freshly-baked treats. If you want to surprise your loved ones, you can always send them a dozen-cookie gift box with your favorite flavors.

If you’re all about salads, fresh veggies, and healthy food, Salata Salads have their door open for you. Create your own salad and add the dressing of your choice. Complete the menu with a bento box, a hot soup, gourmet wraps, or even something sweet. You can even pair your salad with a glass of wine because…wine not?

The Pig and the Pearl and Rising Roll Gourmet Café are also some more great options for eating out in Atlantic Station.

Where to Get the Best Services

Located just across from Old Navy, on the second floor of Great American Cookie Company, Tony Barbers Studio is the place to get a new haircut or enjoy professional shaving services. The place is owned by Tony Roberts, and it offers free 15-minute consultations on the style that’s right for you.

Life in this part of Atlanta is not always about living for the weekend. Balance is important, and there is also serious business to attend to, such as taking care of your health. Residents can have their dental needs met by 19th Street Dental. Dr. Trushar Patel—one of the doctors that will attend you—says it best: “dentistry is more than just cleaning teeth, repairing a tooth, relieving pain, or making a smile more beautiful.
