Rent is going up & though it's still manageable, the apartment isn't really worth the rent being asked. The apartment is old; the carpet hasn't been replaced in years, the kitchen flooring is coming up & making a sticky sound every time someone steps on it, the windows are old (not energy efficient), no air-conditioning, old baseboard heaters, damaged cabinets, old appliances, plaster coming off walls around windows, poor layout (enough square footage for a 3 bed/2 bath without compromising current kitchen/dining/living room sizes, but instead designed as a 1 bedroom/2 bath apartment with 2 living rooms (2nd living room currently used as a bedroom). The downsides were acceptable considering how low the rent was, but rent has increased $600 within 6months & no improvements to make the increase worth it. Additionally hall lights & stairwell lights have gone out & not been replaced (hazard to residents) despite emailing maintenance about it.
