Thea

Good location in Seattle quiet neighborhood

Pass

The building was recently remodeled, and rehabbed units were upbranded and uppriced as "luxury apartments," well beyond comparable market rates. The problem is - nothing about this building or the apartments is luxurious. The building has zero amenities, and the units were remodeled with cheap materials including cabinetry, flooring, and appliance. They started charging a monthly "amenities fee" for -- wait for it --- the "luxury" of having a mailbox and a locker for packages (standard everywhere at these prices) and compulsory Internet with Altas (a local provider that is the worst I have ever had -- service is unreliable and customer service not available during weekend). Maintenance requests go unanswered for months. Not to mention, the building is situated between two group homes and half way houses, which means every time you come home, you get to trip over junkies doing fenty on the streets. Hard Pass.

Not Worth It

Unresponsive Management. The management here is unresponsive, and when your place maintenance requests they go unanswered for months. I put a maintenance request in to fix a microwave - three months still waiting. Amenity Fee. Recently management unilaterally imposed a $60/month amenity fee. The supposed amenities are access to a new internet provider they contracted with (Atlas), a new package locker they installed, and the door access system. To be clear, its 2024, access to the internet is not an amenity. And Atlas is by far the worst and most unreliable Internet provider I have ever used. And secured building access and a package locker are standard -- not amenities. That aside, this was increasing the rent by another name, without subscribing to legal requirements in Seattle that require 6 months notice. Bad form.

Drastic reduction in quality of service since Bonavista

I submitted a request to repair our washing machine on labor day weekend. I did not hear back that weekend, but it's a holiday, so I waited until the work week to ask again. Multiple tickets and 7 weeks later, I am still without a functional washing machine and have no idea when that might be resolved. I have a young child and a wife, and we have been forced to haul our laundry off-site (and there is no longer any laundry services nearby) for this entire time. My question to you, under Washington state law, what is the landlord's duty to repair major appliances in a given time-frame, and how will you make this right?
