Great place to live

Porchlight is a great place to live. The part I live in is very quiet, everyone is friendly and keeps to themselves. Staff is friendly as well. Parking might be an issue, there are a lot of stolen cars that get parked in the complex. So every month the police do come in to tow them away. Neighbors from other complexes come into our complex with their dogs or just to loiter, walk through the complex, but no issues yet.

Disappointing

Service has worsened over time. Mold was present when moving in accompanied by failing wood in one of the window seals. Appliances had various issues that persisted for several weeks before properly corrected. Claimed remodel is very poor quality. The unit had poor heating and is not fully sealed from the outside atmosphere and will not hold heat. Especially during the winter season. Despite submitting a service request the management has been unresponsive. The office phones are rarely answered. The poor weather sealing and inattention to corrective work borders on non compliance with the Washington State Land Lord Tenant Act. Compared to what is claimed as a “competitive market rate” the unit and management quality is well below its competitors. All issues of communication and poor responses aside the unit is very disappointing when viewed against the rent price and other fees. Also notable is the trash management as it is constantly piled up and overflowing from the dumpster. The trash accommodations do not appear to be sufficient and certainly don’t justify the trash service fee charged monthly. I don’t expect everyone has had the same experience but based on what has been displayed I would say this is a very poor quality community.

Tolerable living

Parking is ridiculous unless you have a paid spot. There there are cars parked that haven’t moved in weeks as well as residents that have multiple vechiles in the lots (beyond 2-3). The trash situation is gross. The compactor is either full or you cant get to it because people throw their bags on the ground in front of it. There is no monitoring of the trash areas so people bring trucks loads of trash to drop there. Because of the infrequent clean up of the area, birds are constantly tearing trash out all over the place. it is a disgusting mess. Maintenance request take a while to be completed and then are done poorly; i.e. heater worked on and then only one screw loosely placed back into the unit so it is half hanging off the wall. The amenities seem great until you look at the availability for them. You’re only able to access everything during office hours as there’s no after hours access for residence despite the leasing contract saying that amenities are available until 10 PM except the pool, which states it is available until 8 PM. The updates in the apartments look ok. Money spent on things like quartz countertops but then they are placed on cabinets the have thick layers of paint, bowed shelving, random holes in the bottoms/sides of the cabinets, and drawers that are difficult to open. Its a poorly attempted update.
