New manager

I have lived in the FirstPlace Apartments for 8 years. It has felt safe and comfortable. During that time I was impressed with the maintenance and management until it changed about a year and half ago. The new management was a constant nightmare causing me to not want to renew my lease. I believed that things would get better as the new manager “settled in” so I renewed the lease at the beginning of last year. , The maintenance person was the reason I stayed as he has always stayed on top of things and been quick to solve even a small issue. But as things did not improve with management, I planned on not renewing the lease this year. Now I’m glad I stuck it out. We got a new manager near the end of last year and she is on top of things and very approachable, a breath of fresh air. She has been open and understanding to concerns when I’ve contacted her. Because of her and the suburb maintenance person, I now plan on staying and am grateful not to feel like I need to move, which I was not looking forward to.

Lived here 12 years. Was a great place until new management took over about a year ago. Rent is increasing, but quality of the customer service/management has gone way down. Appearance is still maintained well, but monthly charges are never correct. Every month has additional charges that need to be removed. Leasing office many times simply doesn't respond to calls or emails about incorrect charges in online portal or maintenance requests. No amenities on this property. No laundry facility, no fitness center, no clubhouse, no playground, no pool, not hot tub, no sauna and no onsite management. The leasing office on this property is by appointment only. Very very limited parking.

Rates way to high for what you get

I've lived here 12 years. Obviously rent has increased over time, which is to be expected. But it has more than doubled since I moved in. The place is clean, quiet and safe. But has absolutely no amenities whatsoever. No pool, no fitness center, no business center, no onsite management, no clubhouse, no playground, nothing. So while the rates may seem reasonable at first, once you find out there are no extras at all, you realize this property is extremely overpriced for what you get. Especially when there are brand new properties being built left and right with all the amenities for just a tad more. This place has new management who is implementing a slew of new rules and regulations like adding "pet rent" even for people who have paid pet deposits years ago. In addition, if I have to call the office to address an issue (like extra fees incorrectly being added to my account) and have to leave a voicemail, it's hit or miss whether I ever hear back. From anyone. Ever. So I have to call multiple times. This NEVER used to happen. And the quiet, reliable, rent-paying residents will be vacating one by one and my prediction is this place will slowly decline. Very unfortunate.
