What others love about this property:
Great place to live
I have lived here nearly 6 years. I love the location, the outstanding maintenance services, the attention to upkeep, and the way this property has adapted to the changing needs of tenants. During the pandemic they pivoted to build a brand new package room and reassigned team members when it became overwhelming. They have increased communication so people are aware of anything that will impact their day. And they always work to hire dedicated staff. I hope to be here a long time.
Resident
I hve l lived at the Claridge for 18 years. The staff is competent and request are handled promptly.
Fairly nice
Fairly nice place, very centrally located. Responsive, friendly, kind staff. The layouts are a little awkward, for example my kitchen is very narrow and the fridge cannot fully open because the refrigerator door hits the wall. Elevators are slow and under repair. Things are just a bit old and run down in the building. The rooftop deck is awesome! There are large common areas that are nice to have access to.
Lovely apartment with only a few issues
The Rittenhouse Claridge is a great apartment and I am grateful for having lived here. As with anything, there are pros and cons. If you prioritize safety, location, pet-friendliness, convenience, and having above average amenities and maintenance, you've picked a great spot. However, I will list the cons below to be fair: - Extremely noisy: living smack-dab in center city, I expected there to be noise but not to this extent. I was on the side facing walnut street and between the street music, protests, ambulances, cars, it was too much and part of the reason I am leaving. The walls are also very thin so you get attacked by noise from the inside as well. It might be in your best interest to get a white noise machine if you do intend to stay here or you might just be built different. - Elevators: This is an issue that is currently being addressed but at a very slow rate. There are 6 total elevators. 2 have been serviced/modernized, 2 can be used by anyone but are primarily for use by maintenance/movers, and 2 have yet to be modernized. Given how many floors there are and how many people occupy the building, it takes forever to get an elevator and if you do end up getting one of the ones that have yet to be modernized, be prepared to wait 15 seconds for the door to close. - Centralized heating: The good news is you don't have to pay gas + electric; the bad news is they get to control when you get heat and cool air. And with climate change, having the AC on only during the hot months just doesn't work anymore as it will be 60 degrees well into December nowadays. Fan's can only do so much. They recommend opening up the windows which does nothing and only exposes you to more noise. Just cannot win here The cons above are why I have chosen to switch apartments but that being said, I did have a great time here and there are still so many perks about living in this area. Thanks to all the people here who have made my stay a great experience. I will miss you all.
