When I moved to Philly in 2015, it was not hard at all to find a 2-3 bedroom row home for between $1200-1400/mo. As the market moves to exploit any renter making less than a quarter million dollars, we're now paying between $1200-1400 for a 1-br 1-bath 800 sq ft apartment in arguably one of the least 'hip' neighborhoods in the city. How is it that only 8 years later, as wages stagnate and living costs increase, we are paying so much more for so much less? Particularly when no material improvements are made to the property?
