Poor communication
I've lived here since September and have been very disappointed with the building. When my roommates and I moved in, the unit was a a mess and needed several more weeks of maintenance. This would've been more palatable if we'd had good supers -- while Jhon is a kind person and hard (and honestly overworked) worker, he fails to sufficiently communicate with us when he's running late to do some maintenance. I feel trapped in my apartment when this happens. Once, when our building's water unexpectedly wasn't working, I texted Jhon to ask if he knew anything about the situation. Why was it off? When would it be back on? Here is the sole response I got from him, via a voice iMessage: "Sorry for the inconvenience but, we had to shut off the water lines." This of course gave me zero new information. We understand if somebody is overworked and running late -- as long as they keep us updated so we don't have to keep twiddling our thumbs wondering where they are.
Not bad
It’s a good experience to me living in New York for first time. Very close to my college.
Love the area - apartment building is old
Apartment building is old and people smoke in the stairwells sometimes, and the outlets were painted over when we moved in, so still can't use some of them. Overall, though, I'm happy here because the location is great - aside from the train and loud construction sometimes.
