Take a short walk to the updated Riverwalk District along the Truckee River, which has galleries, restaurants and several parks. It includes scenic Wingfield Park, which is great for playing in the Truckee River, watching the ducks, sun bathing and swimming. It's also the center location for many of the City's popular events, with an amphitheater for plays and concerts taking place in the Summer. Basketball and tennis courts at Barbara Bennett Park are also close by.
Wonderful Idlewild Park is only a few miles away. It's a beautiful open space next to the Truckee River with numerous attractions, such as the rose garden, swimming pool, train rides, gorgeous walk and bike paths along the river (part of Tahoe-Pyramid Bikeway), playgrounds, ball fields, small lakes for fishing and waterfowl feeding, skate park, grassy areas, and picnic spots. Mt. Rose ski resort is a short drive, and you can visit multiple ski resorts near Lake Tahoe if you drive further. There are also several golf courses in the greater Reno area. Trail rides on horseback are also available near Lake Tahoe and New Washoe City. Other nearby activities include: movie theater, Reno Aces (baseball team), bowling, laser tag, large arcades, go kart racing, mini golf, indoor sky diving/hang gliding experience, indoor trampoline parks, water parks, indoor golf range, museums, and much more!
