As an 11-year inaugural resident of The Vue and transplant to New Brunswick, it's been an overall positive experience. The apartments are well-maintained and it's great to have an in-unit washer and dryer, onsite, small fitness center, conference room and shared lounge with Wi-Fi. It would be great to have better lighting within units and in shared areas, as well as periodic refresh options available on request, such as painting, carpet and floor replacement and re-grouting of tiles and baths. Common areas are updated and kept in good service by regular maintenance staff, although the original ambiance was much more upscale and professional than the current 'student lounge' feel. Direct access to the northeast corridor line of NJ Transit and Amtrak is a great bonus. While there is a parking deck behind the complex, it's costly for a monthly pass and there is no interior direct access - a real inconvenience during inclement weather. Parking in general in New Brunswick is expensive, inconvenient and challenging to maneuver. The building has undergone several waves of clientele, from young professionals and medical staff and students from two nearby hospitals to a larger percentage of Rutgers undergrads. At times the ratio of students who treat the Vue as a dorm for partying rather than a residential community for working residents and families, has created friction with existing, longer-term tenants. It's nice to have a diverse group of neighbors when common courtesy and respectful congregate behavioral norms are followed, both by culture and age. I love looking out my window on exciting and innovative projects exploding all over the downtown area and university campus, with the NYC skyline on the horizon beyond the Raritan River. The city has great options for dining, culture and outdoor spaces including parks. It's truly a great time to live in a dynamic city with visionary, dedicated leadership in the private, public and nonprofit sectors. #HubCity

The location cannot be matched but the building is old and so are the appliances which keep breaking down often. But the onsite maintenance is great and they are usually prompt with repairs. Noise can be an issue especially if you live on a floor that has a lot of students - think screaming in the corridors at 2 AM, throwing trash all over etc. on Friday/Saturday nights.
