West Village Review

I've lived in West Village for just under a year now, and will be living here for at least another year-long lease term. This is the first apartment I've lived in as an adult where I've genuinely wanted to stay as long as possible, and it makes me think about just renting forever. The location is phenomenal being in the heart of downtown Durham, and the price is very affordable compared to most other complexes in the area. The few issues I've experienced in my apartment were fixed very quickly after submitting a maintenance request and the maintenance team was very friendly. The front office staff is also very friendly and they put in the work to help residents feel at home.

low price for good place

Coming up on one year living at west village. The apartments are so unique and easy to make feel like your home! I would say that the lower price for what size and amenity you get for the downtown location makes some of the minor inconveniences worth it! Minor inconveniences are also normal to most apartment companies (doing cheap or easiest fixes on maintenance issues to most likely save money, older building comes with minor imperfections, and sometimes staff (office and maintenance) do not follow up when they say they will do something so you have to make sure to stay on top of whatever request you have- but they are always friendly so that makes it more bearable and eventually will follow through with your request

Enjoying Downtown Living in a Quiet Community

Moving to West Village was my first time ever living in downtown Durham. It has been really great, being in a walkable, quiet area, and still get the feel of the city. I love the courtyard area, and access to many bars and restaurants within walking distance. I have huge windows in my unit, and love the character of the brick. Ironically, my grandfather used to work in this very tobacco warehouse, and so there is some sentimental quality to that for me. My only complaint is the A/C in my unit isn't great, and there's a little bit of a stale scent - but I chalk that up to it being an older, remodeled building. Love the high ceilings, the hardwood floors, and all of my neighbors seem nice. I'm personally really enjoying West Village, and it is surprisingly affordable considering the rental market in Durham right now. My leasing professional, Danielle has been amazing!

Great place to live!

I have lived at West Village for four years and my 8 year-old son and I love it here. The location is great and I love the character of the old, ornate brickwork. As an artist, having those big windows is what drew me to the place and it's a real joy to have so much light in the morning and clear blue sky the rest of the day! They also allow pets, which our cat appreciates.
