501 8th Street Southeast

I have been living in this apartment for 3 years and it is nice for the cheap rent! I love having windows on all sides, the appliances are updated, and the location makes it very easy to get to work if you work at Mayo. The neighborhood is not great but is quieter than when I first moved it. The apartment is very drafty in the winter, however much improved if you put plastic over the windows. The maintenance has been very disappointing, either taking a long time to get done or it is never addressed unless there is an emergency. The apartment is not well-built so comes with its own quirks (all floors are slanted, cracks in the ceiling, etc). I have lived here with and without a roommate and it is a comfortable amount of space either way. The small deck and porch are nice!
