Great Community

Kilkenny would be 5 stars for all categories, however there doesn't seem to be padding under the carpet, I can hear every footstep in the apartment above me. I gave only 2 stars for parking because the lot could be taken better care of in the winter. When they plow the lot, they don't even touch the surface of the lot - leaving at least a inch of snow on top of the blacktop. This makes it hard for those needing a wheelchair or walker. The snow left behind only turns to ice since the lot doesn't even get salted. I understand there's probably a budget for snow removal but that shouldn't put the residents at risk of falling or not even being able to navigate through the parking lot, especially if there was a fire and everyone needed to get away from the building as fast as possible. That is my main concern as it could cost residents their lives trying to escape a fire. If you go grocery shopping, it's great to have shopping carts handy, but getting those through the snow even when they just plowed can be dangerous if you're even able to push the cart through the snow they leave behind after plowing the lot. If there was one thing I could change about the property, it would be keeping the parking lot clear of snow and ice. Maybe the property owners could invest in a bobcat to clear the lot properly and also use salt to make the lot easier to navigate.

A Good Place To Call Home!

Carpet could use padding, the resident above me wakes me up during the night with heavy walking very often. Snow removal could be improved. Even after a fresh plow there is still about a half inch of snow in most the lot making it more difficult for those with electric chairs and walkers. I believe this is done to save wear on the plow blades. The lot is never salted so the snow that is left can easily melt on a warmer day, work it's way into cracks then freeze again, expanding and causing the lot to crack even more. I'm not sure what costs more, proper maintenance of snow removal or resurfacing the lot every 2 years. Other than that, I love it here. Staff and most residents are friendly and Lisa and Dean do a great job! The flower plots and garden are a great plus. Nothing beats growing your own herbs and vegetables!
