Average Experience with Room for Improvement

Some of the pitfalls of North Hillburn get recognized a little easier as there is a lot good about these apartments. Are they perfect? No. But considering the in-unit laundry, newer fixtures, and garage space it does have a pretty good ROI. If you aren't parking in a garage, the parking lot can be difficult to find a space at times as there is no reserved parking. There are no amenities like a pool, grill or gym but the location doesn't really allow for it. It would be nice to see 2/3 bedroom units as well. The apartments have a hard time staying cool. I'm not sure if this is the result of poor insulation or what but I am constantly finding to keep mine from jumping up to 77 degrees. All that being said, it is a very comfortable living space and there are definitely worse places in Grand Rapids and the local area. There are better ones as well but they come at a price. North Hillburn sits right in the comfortable middle and I'm happy with that.

Great Place to Live!

The North Hillburn Apartments are very nice, well equipped apartments that provide an excellent way to live. From the wonderful location, to the very nice and respectful fellow tenants there is not much to complain about. The property is fairly bare bones, meaning no pool or club house or any big fancy amenities, but frankly that is for the better anyway. The value is amazing, and the units, while they do appear to be thrown together quickly, are surprisingly high quality material. I have lived her for a year and a half now, I was the original tenant in my unit, and I plan on continuing to live here for years to come.

Great location with parking included

There aren’t any extra amenities but it is not completely necessary. I don’t really ever interact with the staff.

Could be better

The landlord could put in 5% more effort and have a 100% better apartment. The price is decent, the separate garages are great. But so many things they do confuse me. For example, $25 convenience fee to pay rent online?? And then if you're late its a $25 fee.. Oh come on... Also, the fact that they have Gigabit internet coming into the apartment, but you cant even fully take advantage of it because they have a voice module splitter instead of data. It would have cost $5 more/apt... Also the garage doors are trash and don't even fully work sometimes, leading to people accidently leaving them open for a full day + sometimes. And its $5 for another opener. All these things are tiny and not that big of a deal, but together add up. Especially when you realize that it wouldn't have taken that much money or effort to fix them in the first place.

Living here

Living in north hillburn apartments has been an overall great experience compared to the several other places I’ve lived while being in Grand Rapids. Pros: safe, quiet area, dishwasher and in home laundry, plenty of storage in main area. Cons: no central AC and no garbage disposal, no airflow in the bedroom due to no central AC, minor noise from above resident but I think having carpet dulls it out compared to other places I’ve lived with hardwood flooring. I have not dealt much with staff or maintenance to give an accurate review on them but OVERALL, 10/10 would recommend living here to others searching in the Grand Rapids area. Little to no issues since living here.
