It is a good place to live. There have however been some ongoing maintenance issues. Not major, but a few small problems. Thank you.

Amazing location! This apartment is close to all the Hyde Park shops and restaurants, it's walking distance from the lake, and it's also right by the Metra and several CTA bus routes. Despite being in the heart of Hyde Park, it has a somewhat secluded feel because it's at the end of a dead-end street. It's right behind Trader Joe's, which is not only great for grocery shopping but also makes parking easier (since no one lives on the side of the street where the Trader Joe's loading dock and back storage are). My one-bedroom unit is spacious with a lot of natural light. There are lots of nice little touches -- the shelves built into the walk-in closets, the Brita filter, etc. The building doesn't have a lot of fancy amenities, but everything from the landscaping to the plumbing is well-maintained, and Don and Sean are responsive and helpful with any maintenance and repair needs. Also, laundry is free! Before I found this place, I looked at lots of places in Hyde Park that were more expensive and not nearly as nice. This apartment is a great value and I would highly recommend living here.

The apartments are large, especially for a studio and the hardwood flooring is nice. Sounds travels to some extent but no more than average and its never been an issue. Maintenance is pretty responsive. Its an older building so it has some funkiness but overall its charming. There is no parking for the building, it is street parking only. Good location.

Very good and old building, excellent heat. Noise not bad but apartments are not well soundproofed from one another. Great location.

Maintenance takes a while to action requests. It can take months with just emailing back and forth before someone comes in to look at things. Things just don't get actioned without persistence on the renter's part. They've also gone through a few Management people even at this property alone, so it's a little worrying sometimes. Some residents are super inconsiderate and/or oblivious, so you can hear them yelling and singing and even jumping rope (in an apartment?? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT WITH NEIGHBORS BELOW YOU????) at 2AM, but that's not really something that the property is responsible for. It's just luck of the draw, but it does speak to how thin the ceilings/floors can be. (We also constantly have water damage from the upstairs neighbors.) Otherwise, there are lots of good things. The distance to Lake Michigan makes this place great, as does the included laundry. The bike storage is also super helpful. All in all, it strikes me as a property geared towards undergrads and graduate students. It's very attractive to students who need the basics, and it offers a little extra for a decent price point. If you have that in mind like we did (that it's not a luxury apartment but a pretty solid place with students in mind), you know exactly what you're getting!

I've lived here for four years and I love it. The apartment is quiet and cozy and in a great location.
