1480 W Cuyler: Great apartment, better value!

My unit at 1480 W Cuyler is a "1 bed 1 bath" but it has a living room, a dining room, and a huge closet in the center that could easily store 3 bikes (even though I don't own one). It was so big that I didn't even fully furnish it for the first 1.5 years. The building is a little old but that doesn't bother me much. I've lived here by myself for 3.5+ years and I still love this apartment. The location just can't be beat for its place in North Center/Lakeview East since I'm very close to the lake, Wrigley, lake shore drive, and I'm halfway between both the red line at Sheridan and the Irving Park brown. You do need to be mindful of traffic/logistics when there is a Cubs game but that's not too hard to avoid. Street parking is fine 99% of the time except when street sweeping occurs and everyone has to fight for a spot but that's just how it is--it is no fault of Peak's. There are 3 washer and dryer units and there can be a wait on typical "laundry days" like on Sundays and Mondays so just be smart and plan ahead by doing it mid week. I think once every 4-5 months one of the three dryer units will be unavailable for repairs but it gets fixed quickly. There are also storage units in the basement that you can put a padlock on but I've never had a need to use them--it does get kind of dank and moist down there so if I did use it, I would only put like Christmas decorations and a snowboard there instead of clothes or electronics.

Great Unit, building needs to be updated

The apartment is very nice. I have had several issues with water coming into my apartment but the maintenance staff has always been very responsive, quick and efficient with repairing my unit. But now I just found a rat in my kitchen and now hear them in my ceilings. I think that the building is just old and needs to be updated.

Old appliances but solid apartment

Very old and the raised rent every year for what we get will have a ceiling. Experiences with maintenance have been mixed. Parking is on the street but it’s pretty easy.
