Thin walls high rent

The walls are too thin and i feel like i have no privacy at times and removing carpet made that issue worse. The rent price for a one bedroom is way too high. When I moved here in 2017 it was affordable. I pay $1200 for a one bedroom and that's just too much to afford on ones own so i struggle to be on time. Maybe if they didn't raise my rent every time I renew I'd be able to pay on time.
