Fine, but needs more organization

Living here has been fine, but the communication regarding our needs has been subpar. We received conflicting information from our leasing agent, corporate management, and maintenance. This has been a large frustration, but overall, it has been fine living here as long as we don't have maintenance issues in our apartment.

Great Location, Not Worth the Price

I've lived here for a while and overall, it’s been just okay, mostly disappointing. The best thing about this building is the location. It’s hard to beat for Capitol Hill it's close to everything and everyone. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. There are no real amenities, and what’s technically available (like the rooftop) is poorly maintained, often trashed and torn up. For a building that’s decades old, you’d expect better sound insulation, but it’s incredibly loud. You can hear neighbors talking in the hallway, the back door constantly slams, and the windows let in way too much air and street noise. There are also several small issues that add up over time. The elevator is very slow and not always clean, the kitchens feel outdated and lack some basic appliances, and maintenance can be hit-or-miss when it comes to repairs. On top of that, the $60 monthly fee for “grounds cleanup” doesn’t seem to match the actual upkeep of the property. This building does have potential, and the location really is fantastic, but given the current condition and limited amenities, it’s extremely difficult to justify the price.

What you’d expect for the cheaper price of a one bedroom

Ive lived here for a year now and the best word I can use to describe it is adequate. First of all, RedPeak has so many properties that they all become poorly managed, especially the cheaper ones like 899. When I moved in, the girl helping with my lease had no idea what the inside of the apartment looked like. Thank god I waited on buying furniture because the apartment I got was not even close to the apartment layout my lease stated it was and this girl wouldnt lift a finger in an attempt to try to find out what the inside looked like. Just ask maintenance to swing by and look? Speaking of, maintenance comes by and enters constantly and freely. Very offputting. The walls are like paper so I suggest living on one of the top floors. The shower liner has been peeling off in chunks since the first time I showered and the water only works half the time. Because of the thin walls I can hear if anyone around me is showering and if they are, I have to wait to wash my hands. It trickles out of the drain if water is being used elsewhere. Doing laundry is also tricky when theres only 3 washers and 3 dryers shared between a 40 unit building. Especially when the elevator goes out like it does once a month. Positives: the street parking is normally manageable, my neighbors have been cool since were all suffering together, the location is a great walk from the grocery store, coffee shops, bars etc. For a one bedroom its priced pretty fairly compared to the downtown luxury apartments so honestly you kind of get what you pay for. I wish there was better communication from the management and better maintenance priority. All in all this place is liveable but don’t expect everything to work like its supposed to all the time.

Noise

I just moved in not too long ago and it has been a little rough, the door outside of the building by the trash has no suspension and slams really hard which, along with neighbors I am almost consistently hearing.

Love the building, hate the company and how long it takes to get anything fixed or completed around here
