Union Park Apartments
This was probably a very nice place in its day fifty years ago. What had been a recreation room and then an exercise room is now unavailable to residents. The landscaping has been reduced, removed or let die without replacement. The lava rock is getting scarcer all the time. Still, the landscapers come regularly and do their job well as do the pool cleaners.. The pool opens late and closes early each year because the open weeks are entirely based on the calendar. It may close when the weather is still in the 90's or not open despite the onset of hot we4ather. The laundry room is immaculately clean. The woman who maintains it is careful about every detail. However I prefer to use a laundromat so that I can put my clothes directly onto hangars....we have no rack of any sort. Also, the machines are not consistent in reading credit cards...its "yes" today and "no" tomorrow, regardless of which card I choose. I feel my clothes come cleaner elsewhere because I can use bigger, better machines. Also, no matter the cycle, there is only one water temperature. I find that Lorraine is very nice to work with - cheerful, accommodating when she can be, and knowledgeable, I can always count on her help. Other staff members vary from one time to the next and they are always very sure that they are right even when circumstances contradict them. I believe ownership should be more discriminating in what services with which they contract or recommend. I feel sorry for a newcomer who looks at brochures in the office and thinks they are for good businesses. Overall, I think that the key measures of the place are positive - that is - the neighborhood is good (except having my car stolen from the parking lot), the buildings are clean, well maintained and safe (except staircase failures), the complex is quiet and living here is mostly stress free.
