Everything good so far. Maintenance team is helpful.

    4.5/5 Anonymous on Jun 1, 2023

We were some of the first people to move in here. The staff were very helpful with the process and took great care of us. The building has started to fill up as more people are moving to the property. With more people things usually start to degrade; that has not been the case here. The day time staff stays on top of things, the maintenance team is fast to respond to any request, and the night watchmen actually show up and patrol the property. I strongly recommend Legacy at Hayward.

    Living in Hayward, CA

If you are looking to move into the Bay Area but prefer a slower pace of living without breaking the bank, then Hayward may be the best renting option. Although it does not have the same glamorous appeal as some other surrounding cities, this small town has plenty to offer, including the longest-running brewpub in the country and the first traditional Japanese Gardens in California. The cost of living may be higher than the national average — as can be expected from a place located in one of the most expensive places in the country — but it remains lower than other cities in the Bay Area. Hayward renters have access to the same pleasant weather year-round, countless attractions and beautiful scenery the region is known for, particularly on the shoreline. With San Francisco being an easy 30-minute commute away, the city attracts a diverse community of renters, including young professionals and families raising children.

    Renting in Hayward, CA

Hayward includes several older neighborhoods with Victorian houses and cottages dating back to the late 19th century in the northern part of the city, with the historic downtown surrounding the BART stop. The southern and western neighborhoods are newer, sprawling suburban settings, and were primarily built in the 1960s. Some of the older areas show signs of gentrification, with renovated homes, hip eateries and coffee shops taking over. The city of Howard has been subject to the Residential Rent Stabilization and Tenant Protection Ordinance since 2019. According to local laws, rent increases are capped to a small percentage and landlords may not evict renters for reasons over than the ones enumerated under the law, harass their renters or discriminate against them based on their income sources.

    Transportation in Hayward, CA

As in many suburban settings, Hayward renters mostly use their cars to get around. However, thanks to its central location in the heart of the Bay Area, the city also benefits from a relatively dense public transportation network. The community is part of the BART railing system, with two stations connecting to the San Francisco area. Besides, Hayward renters also have access to the AC bus system, with several local routes (including a night bus) and several Transbay routes linking the city to surrounding communities.
