Went there today. First time in two months. There is over an inch of melting ice on the floor. It took me a half an hour to chip the ice away with a hatchet, I happened to have in my truck, to get the door open. Anything made of wood that was touching the floor is garbage now. paid over 120 dollars a month to store these things for the last 5 months. Monetary value of the stuff ruined? Maybe a couple thousand dollars. But it was my mom's stuff that can't be replaced. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I am not happy about this. ... Read more

Floors are cracked. They don't clear the snow and ice in front of the door that falls from roof in the winter leaving a three foot high ice mound. So access to the unit is nearly impossible. When snow melts, water runs into the unit. They charge for the whole month if you don't give a 30 day notice. Other storage places prorate. Not happy with Mid-West Storage. Moved to a better operated storage unit. I gave my notice on the 3rd, and my unit is emptied on the 7th. I'm paying for the whole month and possibly the next for an empty unit. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Mid-West Mini Storage - 211400 WI-97 include the following amenities: 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Unstaffed Location, Parking and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
