How to store unit here had a leak inside the storage unit paid for insurance through the storage unit place. Lots of stuff in my unit were destroyed. Had to fill out the whole insurance report. The management team came out and took photos, but then nothing happened. I was just screwed out of all the money I paid for the forced insurance and the stuff that was destroyed I could not recommend this place in good conscience. ... Read more

DO NOT STORE ANYTHING OF VALUE HERE. I had stored a vehicle here for about 10 years but it is no longer safe or secure. My catalytic converter has been stolen twice and last week I showed up to see a vehicle on blocks with its wheels gone. The word is out that this place is a free for all and the theft will not stop. The company will only point out that your contract does not cover theft and that you can rent anywhere you would like if this place doesn’t work for you. You will be stolen from if you store something of value here. ... Read more

Dealing with them has been a nightmare, my company stores some equipment in a unit at the 1201 W Canal Street location and parked out work vans there. The unit has had repeat break-in attempts and the company has done nothing. Despite calling the company in July 2022 regarding the issue with our door lock, they have done nothing and refused to do any repairs. The best they offered was an increased price to move to another unit (40% increased price). I have dealt with Eric multiple times who is extremely unpleasant to speak to and often threatens me to take legal action. This past week five units on my row had their locks completely ripped off by a thief. This would have been completely preventable if the gate at the facility closed, which it does not currently. Eric told me to hire private security if I wanted to protect my unit and that it wasn't his problem. This SROA location is not safe to store anything, and the management is often unkind, and I do not believe they care. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 50 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Storage Rentals of America - 1201 West Canal Street start from $21 and can go up to $236 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
