Needed a storage unit ASAP. Kevin and Joan helped me with that. Also secured an indoor unit ( loved that ). Everything was clean, convenient and safe! Wouldn't rent any where else! Will always request the indoor units to avoid damage to furniture and electronics due to weather changes. Thank you Manitowoc Storage! Will see you again if ever in need. ?? ... Read more

Yes, they may be more than other units in Manitowoc, but this is temp controlled. We rented for 1 year. Kevin was wonderful. Good value for a temp controlled unit. We stored many furniture items and were hoping that there would not be mice or any other damage to the items. There was absolutely nothing wrong with any item. ... Read more

Let me start by saying if you do not value your possessions than do not rent from this guy because he charges $35 more a month for a 10x20 ft storage unit than everyone else in Manitowoc. The advantages of renting from any other storage unit than one here is that you will have to buy new electronics and furniture because they will most likely get wrecked from the humidity and temperature changes and you may have electronics that catch fire from humidity damage like I have had happen from storing in outdoor storage units and furniture with mold from unconditioned air like I had, so I had to buy new stuff. New stuff was nice but more expensive than if I would have just went with the Manitowoc Self Storage unit in the first place. If you do value your possessions and you don't want your electronics catching on fire because of being stored poorly than Manitowoc Self Storage is the place to go! Manitowoc Self Storage has a key card system that allows you to have access to your unit from 8am to 10pm which helps keep out trouble. The great thing about the key card system is that if you loose the card you can immediately call Manitowoc Self Storage and get it disabled so it can not be used to enter the facility by someone who found your lost card also the key card system keeps track of who and when people enter or leave the facility so that is great security. He has a extensive camera system to monitor the facility so you can be sure that your storage unit is as safe as possible. To get into the storage facility you must go through two garage doors that only open one at a time so that the humidity is kept in check in addition to that he has a massive dehumidifier running constantly to keep the air from getting too moist and wrecking your possessions. In winter he keeps it around 50 degrees so that it is comfortable to go to your unit to put stuff away or to retrieve your belongings. The lighting that gets in your storage unit is good enough to see your stuff but it could be brighter but that is the only problem or negative thing I can say about this place. Side note If you have Apartment Renters insurance be sure to include your storage unit in the insurance policy it does not cost more money for insuring the storage unit as well as your apartment. In summery Manitowoc Self Storage is only a good option if you care that your stuff remains in the same condition as when you first stored it. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Manitowoc Self Storage - 4701 West Custer Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Multi-Level Storage, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
