This place is a horrible place to store your things. I had this place for two months, and my TV came up stolen, but my lock was still on the unit. They did not look into the situation and didn’t want to give me my deposit back at the end of two months. This place is trash. Do not store your things there warning horrible treatment They made me feel really bad. They hung up the phone in my face twice. ... Read more

used them two years ago for storage, everything was fine. tried to use them this past monday, quite literally everything went downhill. self service here is a joke. paid for two storage units I didn’t have access to because the freight elevator wasn’t working. to make things worse, they’re closed quite often so still waiting to communicate with them to get a refund. ... Been renting here for over 2 years. No issues besides some water seeping in (garage door unit). Once the door slammed down and got jammed right before we left town. We didn't put a lock on it so it could be fixed while we were gone. When I called, they offered to place their temporary lock. It was fixed very quickly. Gated entrance with passcodes, very secure. ... Read more

I stored household items there for around 2 years. The staff in the office are kind and helpful when they can be. However, the office manager (Meghan?) is the most rude and condescending individual that you will ever have to deal with. The unit I was in went unchecked for about 9 months. I went in to grab some tools, and I was floored at what I saw. A clear break in the ceiling, where years of leaking and mold had been allowed to flourish in my unit had destroyed/contaminated everything that I own. My spotless Harley was rusted in many places along all of the chrome, there was mold growing on my leather seats (brand new) and there was so much moisture in the unit, that my speedometer even had water droplets inside as well as big splotches of mold. New Rubin's $1k coffee and end table have been damaged by the mold and moisture. New wrought iron patio set completely rusted out. Everything that had contact with the air had molds in green, black, gray and yellow. I wound up moving my storage unit there 3 times, because they had 'no clue' about the many leaks or mold. The last time I had to move there, it was all the way around the building, when I had to store the contents of my home. I went into it about a month later, and there were rat droppings everywhere. In every box I had. Some even poured small pools of urine, when you moved the box. I finally interacted with the manager, who might be the rudest human on the planet. We went into the locker with the water damage and she literally screamed at me, that there was nothing there, but said the space smelled old and dirty, which was actually the stench from the mold. She barked, "There's not a sign of a drop of water anywhere! What, are you trying to set me up?". I simply held out my hand for the flashlight, hoping to point her in the direction to the cracked ceiling, and the black and white mold that was growing all over the wood. She ripped her flashlight back, like it was a weapon, and hissed, "Don't you dare try to touch my flashlight again.". Which I just found to be outlandish. I wasn't even angry at the time, but very confused by her behavior. I tried to ask her questions, and she barked, "What? Do you think I'm stupid enough to answer your questions? Because I'm not going to get set up by someone like you.". I started to giggle, because it was so theatrical. She then said, "You are done here. Done. Gone. Out.". She tried to argue with me that I should be paying them for 2 lockers for the month. The moldy wet one that I had just moved out of, as well as the full month and additional deposit for the replacement. I laughed at her temper tantrum and told her that I wasn't going to pay anything extra, the units were the same size. She followed that up with a termination of lease and I had to drive 2.5 hours each way to move out. I paid just under $2.5k to put nearly everything that I own into a dumpster, after leaving it there for 2 years. She's one of those people that enjoys her 'wand of power' as a manager, but she has the social grace of a hockey puck. Never got a penny of my security deposit back and never got a letter stating why. Which is terribly coincidental, as she had no problem finding my address when she mailed out the termination of lease. I recorded my encounter with her, and I still have it a year and a half later. Never, as a customer, have I felt so attacked by a manager. Never, as a storage renter, have I seen worse conditions. They offer the 24 hour kiosk to do business, so that addicts and the evicted can find a quick place for their belongings. Don't store any bedding there because of bedbugs. I wouldn't even store records there. I wouldn't even store rocks there. Found a fantastic, newer storage company just south of Madison. Everyone is always clean and pleasant and security is fantastic. ... Read more

Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 12 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Badger Self Storage - 4302 Commercial Avenue start from $35 and can go up to $215 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
