Disclaimer: I am reviewing the customer service at Storage Sense, not the quality of the actual facility. I am shocked and disappointed to offer this review today. I visited Storage Sense last week and confirmed with the manager Jakob that I would be renting a unit, at which time a reservation was made and appointment scheduled to come in and complete the paperwork. Initially, Jakob and Mike were friendly, helpful and agreeable. As an RN and the caregiver of a disabled, ailing family member, I have taken on many responsibilities regarding their overall care, their property, and their well-being, including securing a storage unit at Storage Sense for their belongings. Since the unit was going to be rented under their name, and with their insurance, they accompanied me to Storage Sense to complete the intake paperwork on the agreed upon day. Unfortunately, they became ill upon arrival to the facility. I asked Jakob if we could reschedule the appointment. He said this would be fine, I provided the requested documentation (insurance policy and ID), and he instructed me to complete the online lease agreement. My family member and I left the facility with the understanding from Jakob and Mike that we would be renting the unit pending completion of the online lease and returning to the facility to pick up keys. As soon as we had submitted the online lease agreement and payment, less than an hour after leaving the facility, we received a call from Mike saying that (I will quote from memory) "as a private company, we have the right to refuse service to anyone, without explanation." We were denied the previously agreed upon unit and the lease we had just submitted (at Jakob and Mike's request) was rejected, however, my credit card was charged. As my family member's caregiver, I initiated the rental on their behalf, and I informed Jakob that she would be accompanying me to sign the paperwork. Perhaps this was surprising or inspired suspicion (other caregivers may understand the balancing act of being the point person for an independent individual who, due to illness or disability, often requires support or accommodation). But the only thing that changed between the first meeting and the second meeting at Storage Sense was that my disabled family member was present. It feels as if the staff at Storage Sense changed their minds due to prejudices/discrimination against an older person with an illness. When I asked Mike on the phone if he could offer more information about how they arrived at this decision, he simply repeated that they are not required to provide an explanation, and can refuse service to anyone. Admittedly, I became emotional at this, as I have dedicated a great deal of my energy to supporting my family member over the past few years, and I am very protective of them. However, when I brought up that it felt as if they had changed their minds only after my family member came into the facility, and that makes me worry that Storage Sense is discriminating against them, Mike replied that I was being rude and disrespectful and hung up on me. This didn't give me a chance to discuss the fact that we had already submitted our online payment for the unit, and the charge has already been made to my credit card. An entire day was spent viewing and considering multiple facilities in the Fox Cities area, and I was initially very happy with Storage Sense. However, after this experience, I can not recommend a company that would arbitrarily cancel an agreement, without explanation, in a way that feels uncomfortably like prejudice and discrimination. ... I had a wonderful experience with Storage Sense. I struggled with a discount code when reserving a unit and I was helped in person then it was applied to my account. I also got to view multiple different units than the one I initially reserved which was beyond helpful in deciding which size would work for my needs. This was all around a great experience and will keep storage sense in mind for myself and others in the future. ... Read more

Hello, I had a few things to store in Appleton, WI. After a search in the area, “Storage Sense”popped up and it was truly smooth sailing after I discovered it. I’ve had units with different companies around the country and this was the easiest process I’ve ever had. The online process was easy and so convenient as I only had 48hrs to figure it all out. After accessing my unit and unloading a few things, Mike, who seems to be one of the managers for the property, introduced himself. Mike was so patient and kind…he explained all the “ins and outs” of the property. Mike was so kind, clear, and just a pleasant, inviting person. The process was flawless. Easy online process and Mike topped it off once I was on site. 5 stars! Thank you, Mike, for your pleasant disposition and professionalism. Cheers! ... Read more

Used Storage Sense as my Penske rental drop-off location. Staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Restroom and public areas of storage facility were very clean. Broad driveway and parking lot makes for easy in-and-out even with a big truck and trailer. Just use the Mason St. stoplight to loop around the side facing away from college ave. ... Read more

Agent was very friendly, knowledgeable, and polite. It's rare you get all three customer service skills this day and age anymore. This was even through the phone calls to set up my unit. Also my budget was tight and they readjusted unit size to make it more affordable to me at this time. Thank you to ALL staff at storage sense. Reasonably affordable; I like the added security of the code and gated entry while entering & leaving. I enjoy that it's a climate controlled environment. Very convenient, you can get packages shipped here, to the office, and bring them to your storage unit! It's pretty nice, clean and they have a restroom. Just note: They do have office hours that you have to abide by when picking up packages that you get delivered. ... Read more

Storage units available at Storage Sense - 1117 West Washington Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, First Floor Access and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 20 to 600 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Storage Sense - 1117 West Washington Street start from $74 and can go up to $489 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
