This place does not value keeping customers. New customers will get a low rate but give it a little time and your rent will increase again and again to the point you look back and go we are paying over double what we started with. And then you look on the website and they are offering your size unit cheaper than when you started renting from them. They will now put some autfill response apologizing and saying they are so sorry and please contact us during our business hours. They do not care. They are taking advantage of customers who are faithful and never late on payments and are long term, instead of trying to maintain them they raise rates till they leave. Seriously look at storage facilities that don't do this to their customers. ... Read more

We rented a storage unit at Summit Heated Self Storage for eight months and stored our cargo trailer in their gated facility for seven months. If we could offer advice based on our experiences, we would share the following to consider regardless of what storage facility you use. 1. Don’t assume that a secure gated facility with cameras watching 24-7 means your items will be continuously monitored, safe and well protected. We received a call from Summit Heated Self Storage on a Sunday morning informing us that our cargo trailer had been severely damaged and items stored in it were stolen. With hindsight we realized we assumed cameras running 24-7 meant our cargo trailer would be continuously monitored. We learned differently when we arrived at the facility. The manager informed us the cameras watching 24-7 did not mean the cameras were being constantly monitored. 2. Inquire about the types of security the facility offers. Another employee informed us a security guard passed through the facility at 10:00 pm and 2:00 am. The thieves broke into our cargo trailer shortly after 2:00 am and fled around 4:00 am when another customer arrived to get their car out of the gated facility. With hindsight, we would have looked for a facility that has a security guard on duty to watch the cameras and the premises from the time the business closes for the night until it opens in the morning. 3. Ask about the history of break-ins and vandalism before renting at a facility. While standing by our damaged cargo trailer another customer, who had an RV stored in the gated facility, drove up and informed us his RV had experienced several break-in attempts. 4. Ask what steps the storage facility planned on taking to better secure the facility after a break-in. The manager told us that the Summit Storage wanted to better secure the gated facility but couldn’t due to restrictions enforced by the city. 5. Choose an inside unit over an outside unit. We had concerns about the security of our items stored in an inside unit in Summit Heated Self Storage building. This was when the manger told us the thieves use contractor tools, designed to breakup concrete, to breakdown the storage unit doors. She shared we would probably be okay with an indoor storage unit as they are safer than the outside units that have doors facing the outdoors. 6. Be mindful of the crime statistics in the area where the storage unit is located. Because we were not able to secure the remaining contents of our cargo trailer, we removed it from the gated facility on the same day it was damaged and its contents were stolen. Our concern was the thieves might feel comfortable enough to return and finish the job they had started. Our cargo trailer and its contents were insured. We had individuals state this fact as if this would erase all the negative and additional costs one goes through in this type of situation. Unfortunately, this was not what we experienced. Our cargo trailer was damaged and contents stolen on April 13, 2023. Getting our trailer repaired was a long, drawn-out process with unexpected expenses not covered by insurance. Due to a long waiting list at the repair shop and problems getting the needed parts for the repairs, we did not get our trailer back from the repair shop until August 11, 2023. This meant storing the remaining trailer contents for four months. (We used a different storage facility after following all the suggestion shared in this review.) We had to rent a truck to haul items normally hauled in the trailer. In addition, there were items stolen that had sentimental value that no amount of money will ever replace. In closing, we would not wish our experience renting at this or any other storage facility on anyone and hope sharing what we have learned will spare someone else from going through a similar nightmare. ... They don't care. An they clearly do not do walk through of the grounds. Someone try to physically steal are camper. They didn't call us or let us know the area around our camper looked strange. The chains and locks on the floor, the cover to propane tank under the camper. The propane tanks disconnected, the battery cover on the ground. The person who try to steal the camper broke the blocks and the dumbassess broke their truck. Not once did we get a call. They never checked the cameras for it. They didn't even seem concern at all. Which I don't like. Like this is a gated place so who got in?? The guy who was there didn't even care. He was more concern about my insurance that just had expired. No one called. When I called they said they haven't got to it. Like the manager was so busy no she wasn't just be careful they don't care. There was one nice lady there. I hope she is doing well. Got my camper out of there as soon as I could. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Summit Heated Self Storage - 5104 104th Street East include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 600 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Summit Heated Self Storage - 5104 104th Street East start from $30 and can go up to $584 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
