I'd give a zero stars if possible. Do not trust the clerk Bob when he says he updates your info such as a very important phone number. Although my case is not typical I hope this didn't or doesn't happen to anyone else when a loved one passes. The procedures and policies need to be reviewed or this individual re trained properly. It makes no sense to basically fraudulently extort money for over a year from a family member and have no way to update contact information for those paying going forward. In end we did not get to finish the probate process before they auction off my deceased brothers stuff. They sent all notices to the deceased persons address, email, and phone number. Why? Either Bob didn't follow procedures and policies or I suggest your system be updated to handle this kind of situation. The contract was set up in Tacoma but person with different name is paying out of tacoma how does one not look into sending a letter to the paying address when clearly the account is noted original person is deceased. I was never contacted by higher management if this arrangement was not how they run business so I think that should be kept in mind when running business going forward. I don't think it was ethical after already conversing on the phone why the storage had been lost and take 10 more minutes of lecture and attempt to prove I wasn't following up, just to give me what the buyer returned/left. They call me I dont get a bill in writing or by email. Is this not an option your system can handle? I always immediately paid off of the voicemail notice. but thanks to this clerical error of not updating my phone number we lost my dead brothers stuff. On top off that it was absolutely disrespectful after asking multiple qs to see a picture or ask to leave a name and number with the buyer I'm told by Bob 100s of people saw that unit and saw no value in it. I'm not looking sadly for monetary value it was personal value to somone like my brothers 10 year old daughter. Also on the policy how are they are aloud to keep my card on file without a written signature ?? and if they went that far of keeping it without written authorization why did they not run the card like they had previously in order for us to not lose the unit? ... The Santa Claus looking guy behind the counter says the info we gave him doesn't add up yet your not permitted on the premises after hours but the fool admits that he lives on the site yet his story did not add up for anything and yet he realed of methamphetamine for whom it may concern I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORAGE FACILITY TO ANYBODY IT MAY CONCERN. Nor did he have any keys or padlocks in stock and I think he may be imbezaling funds under the table. Somebody needs to have his suspicious activities reported to the local tacoma police authorities. ... Read more

I highly recommend this facility. Not only were their prices the best around, but the customer service was some of the best I’ve ever dealt with. Specifically, Lee (manager), showed so much care in helping me store my vehicle. I created a complicated situation and she handled it so professionally and went out of her way to make it work. I am so thankful this company & Lee were there to help me out. ... Read more

Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 480 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Portland Ave Self Storage - 1421 East 44th Street start from $72 and can go up to $295 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
