Read some helpful reviews of Ferndale Mini Storage at 5480 Nielsen Avenue, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I've had units here for 20 years, and have been a huge customer of this place (many units for many years). These folks used to be really great but the new management (last year or so) is very thankless and extremely awful. Mice (not caused from me) in more than one of my units- Reeks of rodent urine in more than one building. Rates being jacked up, new policies punish renters, reducing gate and office hours…. Nothing positive can be said anymore. I cannot offer an ounce of good word. I would not recommend them to anyone. They are terrible in my book. ... Read more

So I'm the ex setting it straight. There was some of her stuff in 1 unit I moved it in there under her orders.. I changed the locks because she had put a second lock on both units so I couldn't get in in retaliation because I wouldn't give her a key to the one unit her stuff was in because some of my things were missing like my stihl chainsaw she sold to a friend for 75 bucks.. It wasn't me who was the thief. I was the one who paid for both units she didn't pay as dime and felt like she shouldn't have to pitch in to help out.. She broke trust and put her own locks on when I was at work so it would look like to others I was the bad person when I fact she was the liar and thief.. she abused the system to be able to control me thru threats of calling the police... Tell tole signs of a Narcissist . She's 86ed from the property... Sorry and Thanks again Ferndale mini storage! ... Read more

TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. The manager allowed my ex to take over not one, but 2 storage units, to change the locks and the gate code. Knowing I have a protection order in place against him. She allowed him to steal every possession I had minus the clothes on my back & one bicycle. ... Read more

We've had a unit here for almost 5 years. Automatic billing makes things very easy. Never had any issues with access and pricing is very reasonable. I was also extremely pleased that even with record flooding our unit and surrounding buildings were completely dry. Excellent topography for the area! :P ... Read more

You can do better than this company. They seem to lean very heavily on their financial gains and much less on customer care. I wanted to rent in Ferndale, a community that has had civic pride, liked the office folks and well kept grounds, and spaces seemed clean though old and a little musty. I rented on the 6th because I was told space was tight, but found a much cleaner place on the 8th and promptly canceled within 48 hours without using my unit at Ferndale Mini-storage. I was not offered even partial refund because "I hadn't canceled by the 7th of the month." By the letter of the contract, that may be true, but is this the kind of company that you would want to do business with, or to entrust your property? I subsequently heard quite a few complaints about this business and was interested that no one in the industry I discussed this interaction with was surprised. ... Read more

My wife and I needed a bit of square footage to store some odd ends that were creating clutter in our home, which according to my wife was disrupting the flow of prosperity (money) in to our lives. furthermore, this clutter was also interrupting the flow of peace and tranquility in our relationship. but, I digress. We found the prefect spot at FMS. Our bikes could fit in to this space our winter clothes and all the clutter. The family there was nice and work with you. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Ferndale Mini Storage - 5480 Nielsen Avenue include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Credit Cards Accepted and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
