Read some helpful reviews of Pak-A-Nut Self Storage at 840 Marine Drive, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

You do NOT want to deal with Pak a Nut. Service not only terrible, but unreasonable. Was given 10 minutes to leave whilst cleaning out the unit, and she threatened to change the door code. All because I was there for “too long” (less than 2 hours). There are plenty of better of storage options in town, please don’t waste your time. ... Read more

I’ve been renting here for a year now and come and go every couple weeks to months. Twice now I have been there for about an hour going through my belongings like anyone with a storage unit when she calls and gives me 10 minutes to leave or she’ll change the access code and I won’t have access to my locker. The lady is very rude and has a bad reputation around town if your in the know. There’s no good reason to rent here while the other storage places are reasonable and respectful. Not to mention she takes these reviews and disregards anyone’s concerns and just says they’re wrong. Never have I received such poor customer respect from a what’s supposed to be a business ... They want you to pay and leave your stuff alone. Today they threatened to change the gate code on us after being there for an hour and a half going thru stuff. We’ve had this and other units for years and still receive zero grace from the owner over and over, she clearly has nothing better to do then watch her cameras from behind a screen and play sheriff. Would not recommend. ... Read more

Please read before considering renting here: Today I made a mistake whilst using their Kiox on site. What I though I was doing was downsizing my unit while I was viewing my account. It turns out that I accidentally purchased a new unit, they also conveniently make you buy a lock during this process.. even if you have one already or choose to provide your own.. That aside; I called the help line, which was conveniently on the screen and easily accessible. I asked the lady how I can cancel my current unit, because I didn't see an option to do so on their screen. She very shortly explained to me that I cannot cancel my unit unless I request it before the 20th of the month. I told her I made a mistake in renting the new smaller unit, and my intention was to downsize. Which she heard me say loud and clear when I asked If I had to purchase the lock (you do.) earlier. I asked for her help with cancelling the new unit just mere minutes after I finalized the renting process. What proceeded was the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my entire life. I didn't know a business could be so low, I felt as if I was scammed. She downright refused to help me, putting me on the spot saying it was my fault for not reading the fine print, or "obvious" terms and conditions. I feel like as a paying customer of 3+ months now, I should have received some grace, after all, she is cowardly hiding behind a screen which I why I feel she was so bold to deny me any help whatsoever. I felt as if I was being demeaned and called stupid for not reading what I was signing up for. I asked to speak to the manager, she replied "I am the manager." I knew all hope was lost that moment, and I could kiss my $150 goodbye forever. And I was thoroughly shocked a so called "manager" would treat a current paying customer this way. I asked her, in the name of customer service, can you please help me? She downright refused to give me any help other than telling me its my fault. The conversation ended up with her hanging up on me after I grew frustrated with her lack of compassion and what I would call downright greed. All and all, she turned the blame for my situation onto me. What a shameful excuse for her undeniable greedy, cheap, and cowardly action today. All she had to do was help and/or make an acceptation, and she wouldn't. Do not do business with these people, as they do not care about you. ... Read more

They made it extremely easy to sign up on site at an automated kiosk for a storage unit. I paid the monthly rent in full even though I only needed the storage space for a week. I moved out of the storage unit on the 13th of the month. The kiosk was out of order, so I called immediately on their property on my cell phone (it went to a voicemail where I left a message) asking them about making sure my lease/contract was closed out. One week went by and I still hadn't received a phone call, so I called back and found out that you have to let them know by the 20th of the month that you are moving out (if not - you have to either or pay a $50 late notice fee or pay an entire months rent the next month. I did not read the lease agreement close enough and apologized/admitted that to them, but also told them I called and never received a call back about closing the contract out. I called on the 21st, and they would not work with me at all, I had to pay a $50 late notice fee. They said it didn't matter that I called it all and it didn't matter that they didn't return the call, they said you have to do it by mail or through email. This felt very unfair after giving a good faith phone call and asking for a return phone call seven days prior to the notice to move out requirement date. I recommend reading the lease agreement extremely carefully as they won't do you any favors to make a quick buck. ... Read more

There is no rating low enough for this company. We had nothing but rude and uncooperative service once actually getting a "real" person to communicate with. It was an absolute hindrance rather than a service. Beware of this business. ... Read more

True Story DO NOT EVER RENT HERE! IT WILL BE THE BEST DECISION YOU COULD MAKE! Edit: Read their response if you dont want to read my novel and understand their "security measures" that they take seriously consisted of calling the stolen property taskforce on me sitting at my unit going thru some spare keys because I lost my main pair. I had rented for over a year with them and somehow they are turning it into some security measure??? Even the police that showed up 4 deep realized right away that i was doing nothing wrong but the owner insisted i was somehow lucky???? I let the cops look into my unit to see it was just like a normal unit with normal stuff that i kept because i had been moving frequently. They never once told me what i did wrong or what rule i broke but they reduced my hours from 24/7 to 9 to 5 Monday thru Friday. Which makes it a bit hard to move out when you work those hours and the reason for getting the unit was the 24/7 access. All because they probably felt pretty dumb to make a complaint like that to the police. I have asked them in every format about why they revoked my hours and read the rules over and over. If anything they were the ones completely in the wrong and its not uncommon for this place. Please do yourself the favor and never give these scumbags a dollar of your hard earned money. I have not come across a single business that treats their paying, honest customers so horribly bad. its a long story of how my "hours were revoked." Basically my keys were stolen and i wanted to make sure my storage unit was safe. While i was in front of my unit and only my unit, i was trying to find my spare key. I have had many of storage units, so i have a good amount of keys. I didn't even have a car there since my keys were missing. Somehow they thought i am breaking into units or something and not only call the cops on mee but the whole stolen property task force shows up about 5 deep. It doesn't take them long to figure out it is my unit and i haven't even glanced at another unit. They even peeked in my unit to make sure all was good and it was. The owner proceeds to say after the cops leave that I'm lucky. Lucky for what? i literally didn't do anything wrong at all. I wrote them close to 10 emails before getting any kind of real response, because i wanted to know what i did wrong to get my hours revoked? finally they sent the rules i agreed too and i didn't break a single rule. Sorry for the rant but i am quite annoyed because i work 9 to 5 during the weekdays and those are my exact hours i can visit my 24/7 storage unit. That was the only thing decent about the place was access anytime. Save yourself lots of trouble and just plain don't rent a unit it here EVER. If i could rate them negative stars, trust me i would but since you cannot. One single lonely star will do. Thanks for the reply but no you do not run an honest company. Maybe you can tell by all the great reviews you have got on here.... Usually when everyone has the same opinion, there's a good reason why. And the only reason I've got a storage unit there still, is because I work 9 to 5. How am I suppose to move my shit, when I literally can't even get thru the gate at 5:01? Please would you explain to me why your reviews on google are far below the average. Every other storage unit has around a 4.0 or better review average and yours is down at 2.4. which seems strange to me when all i see are one star reviews. And don't even start to say this is a dishonest review because i will track down the police report and post it for everyone to see. Usually when multiple people have the same opinion about a certain person or business {cough cough). There is usually a reason behind them thinking that way.... maybe take a step off your high horse and take a look in the mirror. You guys were embarrassed you called the cops and told them something serious was going on. Im sure you felt like a dumbass when even the cops realized i was doing nothing wrong. Its funny that they respond to everyone and still have the lowest rated facility by a longshot. ... Read more

***Read this review if you ever leave town for work or play*** .I like the price and location of this storage site, but there are a few critical flaws that you should know about before committing. 1) They've attempted to automate the setup and payment for the unit, which is great until you accidentally miss a payment (my card expired). This sets into motion an out of date and cumbersome process to pay your bill. You have to pay the bill on site with cash (difficult if you're rarely in town) and pay a $20 fee. The fee is reasonable I suppose, but the process to pay the bill is no good. 2) This default also prevents you from accessing your online bill pay. Let's say for example you're across the country working (or playing) when this happens (this was my situation). There is no way to pay the bill until you come home. 3) After I pay my bill on site, I quickly leave town again (for work). While away I then go online to sign in and setup online payment with my new card. I was locked out of the website, so I called and was told I have to go to the kiosk to setup my new card for autopay. Now I have to go back to Bellingham again (currently out of town), before the end of the month (5 days), just to setup auto pay to cover my bill. This is an extremely inconvenient system in general, but especially bad if you travel. This is my fault for forgetting to update my card. All I want to do is pay my bill, I wish they made it easier to do remote. ... Read more

There is a reason this place has 1 star reviews. Rude employees and owner, messy storage facility. Kiosk barely works and website not at all. Save your money, go literally anywhere else in Bellingham. I've been a customer here for years and regret it horribly. Also if the owner is reading this, I hope you really soak it in and realize how bad of a job you're doing. Look at all the reviews and how people are reacting to your replies. Does that really seem like something a good business owner would do? Edit: the owner has had multiple issues with customers over the years as evidenced by the Better Business Bureau page. You can tell from reading reviews that she had multiple complaints against the business, and a history of hunting down authors of negative reviews to block access to units/make payments more difficult. She also obviously posts fake reviews or has friends leave reviews. If you really think I'm lying, then I guess the multitude of other people saying the same thing must be too. ... Read more

STRONG CONSUMER WARNING!! It is abnormal for me to write Google reviews. This is an exceptional experience, so please heed the warning. TL;DR: Very volatile office staff with rapid issue escalation for standard service issues. Seemed to retaliate after a billing call by inhibiting account and unit access. Latest Pak-A-Nut incident: This month was overwhelming. I forgot to submit my payment online. Got a courtesy reminder call from the office around Dec 12 while traveling. Unable to process phone payments, I was interrupted before finalizing my payment online. At this time, I was in the middle of a complex four-generational move to a property with active seasonal flooding, caregiving for 2 sick elders through the end of the pandemic, *my child had been shot a week prior in Seattle* (he's ok), and the holidays were in full swing. When I attempted to pay online on the 15th, payment wouldn't go through so I called the office to get help on the morning of the 16th. I told this woman I was having issues processing payment online. She said I couldn't do it anymore and had to come in person to pay at their electronic kiosk. I explained that I'm currently in a different area, which is why I have use of the unit. The 1-min 13-sec phone call escalated RAPIDLY! She immediately started saying I was abusive. (I was annoyed - not aggressive. I'm a service professional. I don't badger people but I do expect them to resolve service issues.) I ended the call along the lines of this being a ridiculous way to do business in 2022 and hung up. Within 3 minutes she emailed me this message: "Management after taking your nasty call today regarding All Unit(s) #B234 has placed the following restrictions and has requested that you NOT rent any future unit(s) with us again, has terminated your online log-in, has removed any automatic billing and online payment privileges, and limited the access hours above to the Facility during the Business Office Hours due to Unit safety or security activity issues, and/or rude or disrespectful communications directed at anytime to our staff or to other Tenants from either you or your guests, or for inappropriate storage use contrary to your lease. We reserve the right to remove these privileges. We do our best to go above and beyond to keep our customers happy and have many customers that have stated so." Wow. She has a template!? She can make changes to my account impacting online payment? It felt like she listened to my personal situation and did everything in her power to make life harder. Was she going to block my access to my stuff? The whole thing was bizarre. Pak-A-Nut is a 24-hour location. I interact with an unstaffed kiosk. The only place office hours are noted are her emails *which is the only time she allowed me access to my unit - 8a - 5p weekdays with NO weekends or holidays.* So, the day after I finished digging a 70 foot drainage channel, after Christmas, after a gigantic move, I got sick with a fever and still had to deal with this crazy lady's power trip. This was an entirely inappropriate response to a routine service issue. I spent about $1000 in travel expenses and fees obtaining a new unit elsewhere last week. I've done so much labor, driving, putting my family under more stress as we juggled to cover all the needs I tend. Friends have overextended themselves to help me. Seeing these weird responses to a large amount of 1-star reviews, I expect some kind of behavior like that after I post. Listen to the majority here. Rent elsewhere. The facility isn't fancy, but it is maintained and what I expect for an unmanned storage place outside. Yet it is NOT a friendly place to do business. It is a serious concern if you want fluid business relations or to ensure access to your things. You might get locked out if she doesn't like your tone. Here are some move out pics. ... Read more

I would leave 0 stars if I could... not only did they plow in my door with 3’ of snow (flooding my stuff when it melted the nexts day), the rats are out of control at this place... furthermore, they refused to accept my emailed move-out notice and have since tried to collect an additional months rent even though I was out of the unit before the end of the month. If I could give this company a zero I would. If you want to do business with a facility who does not have a human being to assist you on premises, who does not answer their phones or return their messages, who refers to you to a website or their kiosk then this is the business for you. The person who responds to emails hides behind the Pak-A-Nut signature picker. What a coward! I would re-name this company F-A-Nut Storage. You should also be aware that this storage facility forces you to purchase a lock when renting from their kiosk even if you don't need or want one. Their kiosk dispatched 3 locks to me in which we were responsible to return 2 out of the three. The kiosk did not have paper to print contracts and a receipt even though you requested it. Don't even bother to ask for an exception for ANYTHING. They just hide behind their contract. Zero compassion and zero loyalty to existing customers. I got stuck renting a unit that I could not even put my belongings in because of the restricted ceiling height only to be told that I should have "asked to see it first". I was like-how could I see a unit at an unmanned facility??? They knew I needed to downsize from my 10x15 unit to a 10x10 and at no point was I offered the opportunity to see the unit before renting. Bottom line was I paid for 2 units for the month of Feb and only used one for part of the month (we moved our belongings to a storage facility with humans and for less money). The fact that your counter-review for any negative post is that you do not recognize the customer name is super lame. Your issue is that you can never ever accept any responsibility for anything negative. Super sad. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Pak-A-Nut Self Storage - 840 Marine Drive include the following amenities: 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Kiosk Available, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 50 to 360 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Pak-A-Nut Self Storage - 840 Marine Drive start from $110 and can go up to $320 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
