Straight up stole $20 from me. I got a call from from them offering me a deal on getting a storage unit with them. First month free and they were going to waive the admin fee. I only had to pay the insurance for the first month which was $20. I paid the $20. Was told my locker was going to be but never received the gate code. I repeatedly contacted customer service and requested to speak with the district manager. Still haven't heard from them. It's been 2 months. When in person talk to the person on the site notified me they couldn't do anything because it was part of the sales department, not them that offered me the deal. And also was told by the person on site they saw that I did get the unit but since it was coming off auction and the person didn't clear out the unit it was still on hold. Long story short, I pay $20 to get a storage unit and never received a gate code. Straight up stole $20 from me. ... Read more

I would not recommend this storage facility currently based on my experience. A couple of years ago, the facility was great; however, within the last year or so, quality has dropped significantly. Started to see evidence of mice within the last year, but when I went to move out this month, mouse droppings were everywhere within my unit and multiple mouse traps were set up in the hallways. Luckily, all of my items were in plastic containers but I have no doubt if it was in cardboard, I would have had to throw out most of my belongings. I understand that pests can be an issue at times, but the extent of the problem here made me uncomfortable. I expected a clean, well-maintained space and unfortunately, that was not what I found. Staff is always helpful in person, but extremely hard to reach over the phone. ... Read more

I should have done a deep dive into the reviews. PLEASE do yourself a favor and save yourself the headache. Everything that the one star (because Google doesn't allow anything less) reviews say is true: - They have not fixed the online payment system, so you have to go in person. - "Climate controlled" - it was so hot when I went to move my things out only to find RAT POOP all over my belongings. I had to throw it all away. On top of that after multiple emails, phone calls, there is no response or even a semblance of accountability. As a previous poster said, I try to extend grace to customer service people working there but it truly is a bad business. There is zero outreach, no kind of acknowledgement to getting anything resolved or at least some sort of response, and of course NO sort of accountability or any sign that they intend on fixing the rational complaints that customers have. ... Although I have no complaints with the facility or pricing, there was no human help at the Caton Hill facility on a Saturday afternoon, when I went to check in. I managed to check in by phone and found my unit with the help of another customer. I do appreciate that since my initial complaint, they've reached out to explain circumstances for lack of staff that day, so hoping things will be fine moving forward. ... Read more

I would have zero stars for this place. Be aware it is difficult to get in contact with a person at the location and they have mice issues. In November I found mice droppings everywhere in my unit and filed a claim after finding it impossible to get in contact with anyone in the facility and once you do they really don’t offer assistance. Insurance was easy but if you have a lot of valuables they will only cover up to $500 with a $100 deductible. The rent is still expected even if you no longer use the storage space and your items are all damaged. I was still responsible to empty my storage unit with everything that was damaged and was unable to use their garbage bins. I eventually was able to empty my space but left the mice droppings on the floor, after the onsite person specifically said I didn’t need to clean since it was because of vermin, something that was out of my control. I ended up getting charged for another month because the onsite person did not submit that the storage was closed, and still left a note saying it was left dirty. I have not been able to get a hold of the onsite person, the only ones to be available are the customer center service people and they informed me my refund request was in process which I was unaware of until I had to make the call. The only help I’ve gotten is from their customer center services because they are the only ones that answer and try to assist. I’m hoping to have a refund at least and move on from this place. ... I would not recommend this place to anybody and will be moving before the next pay cycle. I've been renting for 5 months. I have the smallest unit that they offer, I'm pretty sure. I've moved out of town -- 2 hours away. I came into town to get some items from my unit. The entry gate would not open with the access code and I tried it many times. Several other people were standing outside the gate as well because their codes wouldn't work either. So none of us could get to our units/ stuff. There are no workers on site after like 12:00pm, so there was no one there to help us. I called on the phone and got routed to some agent who said that someone would come, but they did not provide an ETA and I never saw a worker come. When I did get inside, there was an extra lock on my unit, so I could not access my stuff, even though my account was not delinquent. I pay on time each month. I found this frustrating, because first we couldn't get in through the gate, then they mistakenly put an extra lock on my unit so I could not get my stuff. Because there was still no one on site to help me, I called an agent who legitimately told me they couldn't help me. Remember, I came from out of town to get some documents from my unit. I live 2 hours away. I didn't know what I was going to do, because I needed those items and it's kind of ridiculous that no one would help me after they wrongly put an extra lock on my stuff. My friend who I was with suggested I try calling again and perhaps could get a new agent who knew what they were talking about. That actually worked because whoever answered was like a manager or team lead or something and actually provided me the passcode to the lock, so I was able to get the items that I needed that day. Most recently, I received a call from the company notifying me that customers can no longer pay each month with ACH payment. We must pay online (with a $5.99 fee) or pay over the phone (with a $8.99) fee. They say this is because of a glitch in their system. I asked if they had a plan to get the glitch fixed. They said no. So you pretty much have to pay an extra fee just to pay your bill each month. The only way to pay each month with no fee is to physically come to the site (before noon since no workers are onsite after that) in order to pay in person. I explained that I put my stuff in storage because I moved away. I live 2 hours away, so it's not feasible for me to come each month to pay in person. I am very patient and kind to customer service agents, as I work in customer service myself and I do my best to always treat others the way that I want to be treated. I try to give the benefit of the doubt. I never ever raise my voice or call anyone out of their name on the phone. I'm just trying to paint the picture that I am a very reasonable person who is by no means a karen. I explained to the gentleman that all these things would naturally make someone want to cancel their membership and I asked if he could see my point. It seemed that he felt awkward, but never acknowledged my frustrations, or even offered a single apology. Obviously, I know it's not his fault -- I even said that. But I thought customer service 101 was to at least offer some sort of apology for understandable frustrations. Why would I continue with a company who has no one there to help when their gate is broken, they mistakenly lock up my stuff so I can't access it when I arrive (again I live two hours away)... raise the price suddenly from the contract I signed just a few months ago, has a "glitch" in their ACH system so people who pay consistently each month are still penalized by having to pay an extra $6 or $9 fee each month. And they couldn't even offer a simple apology/acknowledgement that this isn't really acceptable, with all the competition out there. I would not recommend this place at all to anyone ever. Update: changing this to 1 star because of finding rat poop all over my stuff when I came to move out… ... Read more

DO NOT RENT A UNIT HERE!!! They have an ongoing rat infestation for over 2 years! This is the worst storage facility in Woodbridge. To hide from all the backlash they have offloaded all employees of the work site and deflect all calls to their call center. They have taken no accountability & they have terrible customer service. Insurance is a joke and only provides $500 liability coverage for Vermin. They know they have this problem & simply choose to neglect. I will have this business shut down very soon! ... Read more

I give them one stars because I have to. Lorton Va . Store facility too hot I couldn't stay more that 5 minutes there in September, never go there only to pay the bill, Thank God for that. About the stuff please keep reading,, thanks I only go there because I don't want to give them s8.00 more to pay over the phones. Not possible to do it online I have not option to make and account. To make even worse last month I have to wait about and hour then a very rude and arrogant man who was on the phone when I was trying to paid but he was to offended to even acknowledge m a costumer who paid his wages. Today, just the same but this time was a little woman of course arrogant and self centered like the other one thinking that place is her little planet and that she is the queen of Sheba and people who dare to go there are hers I forgot ... Well, here the thing I needed to use the bathroom just for a minute and she asked me to use one I don't even know where it is because her bathroom was clean and she wanted to keeps it CLEAN. I thanked her for being so gracious and I went to Lion Lorton to use the bathroom; an least there were 2 public baths availables: DMV Lorton and Food Lion. I just waiting untill I have more time to go thee cancel and remove the junk I have there .. God bless and thanks for reaching my bad English ... ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Self Storage Plus - 2505 Caton Hill Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Self Storage Plus - 2505 Caton Hill Road start from $62 and can go up to $474 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
