HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Do NOT rent here!!! - Original rent amount with insurance was $102 for a 5x10. Then they hiked it to $142. (I received the letter in the mail a week before the payment was due but the date on the letter was the 30 days.) A few weeks into renting, my fiancé stopped by after hours because he saw the door jacked open. (His gym is on the other side of the building.) You can see the date and time stamped on the picture. I called the next day and the lady said she would check her cameras. That was it. He checked several other times and this has continued to happen. The security code and box is pointless with this happening! We were on a higher floor in the back, but be aware that if you’re on the first floor, someone is smoking after hours so don’t store furniture or clothes there. Lastly, do not make my mistake and vacate on the 3rd of the month because they still charge you for the ENTIRE month, even after they verify that you vacated!!! They are not friendly but they don’t necessarily cross the line of unprofessional, but they do not make you feel like they care at all. There are no apologies, and there are no resolutions. It is what it is here and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone!!!! ... Read more

Absolutely awful customer service. This is for the 608 S Lynnhaven Road location in Virginia Beach. My partner and I recently purchased a unit here and she called up to find out some details and general information as to us never having use this facility before. Upon calling, she was met with a short condensing, down right rude attendant. She was not very helpful at all. Made us feel as though we were a bother to her and that we were dumb. I did not know this is how Public Storage ran their business and had we know this is the type attitude we would have to endure for having basic questions that ALL new tenants ask, maybe we would have looked elsewhere. As I wouldn't wish this rudeness on anyone. ... Read more

they jack up your fees ridiculously for no reason. phone number DOES NOT WORK and there is no way to contact them outside of going in person. DO NOT use this facility. they DO NOT want you as a long term customer, and they do not want you there longer than short term. you can find other reviews here stating the same thing. they will keep raising your prices until you quit and leave. i finally spoke to a staff member in person at the desk during the few hours it’s manned and they confirmed that this company’s business model is to keep raising the price indefinitely every 3-6 months until you have no choice but to leave. there are many posts online about this company confirming this practice as well. ... Nice storage unit, but triple your rent after two months of being there on random. Then only pause the increase by one month when you tell them you don’t care about your stuff and you’re gonna leave it all there bc you can’t afford almost 300$ a month for a 10’x4’ space. Ended up getting an apartment instead of living where I was and paying for public storage. ... Read more

Be super careful with this Public Storage. They will turn off auto-pay and sparingly send a sketchy text stating overdue balances without email follow-up. This is a very suspicious practice, so be careful. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 608 South Lynnhaven Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 50 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 608 South Lynnhaven Road start from $97 and can go up to $270 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
