Public Storage is well-known for its practice of attracting new customers with low introductory rates, only to implement significant and persistent rent increases annually. Their strategy relies on the high cost and inconvenience of moving; they know that once the cost begins to squeeze your budget, relocating all of your belongings is a major barrier. The rate of their incremental rental cost increase is alarming. My rent for a 10'x20' unit increased from $337/mo to a projected $722/mo in approximately 2.5 years--a 114% increase! However, I have been able to avoid the most recent rent hike, and it was surprisingly simple. I called their customer service line and calmly explained the situation. I pointed out the rates for an identical unit in my same building is available for less than half of what I was currenlty being charged. I also mentioned the more competitive rates of the nearby storage facilities. I didn't have to get upset or even threaten to leave. The mere act of calling and presenting the facts was enough. The customer service rep was courtious and gave me a six-month reprieve from the rental increase. Storage units are a necessary part of life for many people. I hope this helps if you find yourself in a similar situation. ... Read more

Arrived with a moving van full of furniture and household items Monday at Arlington Blvd facility around noon. There were 2 other customers there who were complaining about the absence of carts. One complained that this was his 4th visit in as many weeks, and he had never seen a cart. The person on duty explained that there should normally be 3 carts available in the lobby. Two of the customers and the PS employee walked several floors and found no carts. Since we were the only customers at the facility we assumed that people are locking them in their storage spaces. The PS employee said there was nothing she could do. There seems to be no desire to correct this unacceptable situation A simple solution might be to have customers "check out" carts with a penalty for not returning them. I have rented two spaces at other PS facilities and this was never a problem. A cart was always available. ... Read more

Keisha and Manish are excellent. Online prices are way better than phone and in person prices, but change daily. Facility is very clean. Love the app. Wish there were cameras in every aisle. Update 5 months later--just learned that my initial rental rate will increase 36%. 30 day notice at least, but that's crazy expensive! Now I'm gonna end the rental ASAP--not worth the rent anymore especially when it can go up anytime. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 6319 Arlington Blvd include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 6319 Arlington Blvd start from $62 and can go up to $511 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
