Read some helpful reviews of SmartStop Self Storage at 1716 East Cary Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Living in Church Hill, this has been the most convenient storage facility. I use it to store my pop-up market gear, and the fact that I can back into a covered spot right at the loading dock and pile everything onto a cart for one trip - it has been hands down the easiest loading and unloading experience out of all of the storage options I've tried. (I've also never run into a situation where every single space was taken, there has always been parking.) The space is clean, and above all else - the staff has been amazing. They are friendly, they know me by name, and they have always been able to help when I need it. The big orange carts go through phases of getting a little run down, but they do get them replaced/repaired. Would highly recommend! ... Read more

As MorningStar storage this place was great. The employees are very caring, attentive, and pleasure to engage with. However, this place was bought by SmartStop Self Storage during my leasing. This company is a nightmare. The information of the transition was not given in advance to us as paying customers. The phone lines to the office were immediately disconnected, and you were sent to a call center that took upwards of 20+ minutes for someone to answer your call. I was hung up on twice when I was attempting to figure out why the lines were cut and I was unable to get in touch with staff about my storage unit. I also attempted to leave feedback about how unorganized and poorly executed this transition was. I was promptly hung up on by a call center worker. My advice is to now avoid this business as there is no longer a professional, welcoming, and respectful atmosphere. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at SmartStop Self Storage - 1716 East Cary Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 150 to 750 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by SmartStop Self Storage - 1716 East Cary Street start from $273 and can go up to $1,112 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
