January 2026 made one year since I started renting a unit here. I’ve stayed because it’s convenient and close to me. But let’s talk about it. The front door is constantly open to the public without needing a code — so what exactly are we paying for in terms of security? The elevators are frequently not working. Yet somehow the rent keeps working just fine. On top of that, it is extremely difficult to find someone in the office when you actually need help. Many times there’s no one there, and when calling, no one answers. For a business that continues to raise prices, basic customer service should not be this hard to access. When I signed my lease last year, my rate was $138. A few days ago, I was charged $333. Yes, $333. I walked into the office on 2/28/26 to ask about it and was told there had already been two prior increases before this one — meaning THREE increases in one year. The explanation? “We increase every six months based on competitors.” Going from $138 to $333 in one year while security issues, maintenance problems, and lack of customer support continue is unacceptable. At this point, it feels less like a rate adjustment and more like price gouging. ... Read more

This is storage. There are going to be pests, there are going to be climate control issues. The two most important days are move in and move out. I understand that we had a major snow/ice storm five days ago, but many other businesses and facilities are cleared and functional. Rescheduling my move today has cost me nearly $1K so far, just because a parking lot wasn’t cleaned up in a timely manner. You need to do better for your customers. UPDATE: the ice and snow were mostly cleared the next day (Saturday.) It is now possible to get a moving van in/out and loaded safely. I was able to reschedule my load crew for Monday, so three days total lost…if it hadn’t been the weekend, things might have turned out even better. I’m not sure if this was a direct response to my review or not, but I’m grateful for the action taken in any case. ... Read more

Learn from my mistake - NEVER RENT A STORAGE LOCKER FROM THIS COMPANY - NEVER!!! The only thing that you will get are huge rate increases, ZERO customer service and, as an added bonus, rodents! I had the misfortune to rent a 7x10 unit from this location in Sept. 2024. It was $144 + insurance + tax. This was high for this unit but it was close by. The facitlity seemed nice and secure. I was told by the agent at the desk (and it's hard to actually find someone at the desk many times) that future rate increases were occassional and modest. In truth, they are anything but! By Feb. 25 the rate increased by $30/month. This put it solidly above comparable units that I found elsewhere. However, for $30/month extra I sucked it up. I thought that at least this would be stable for a bit. I was so wrong! I was stunned when I got notice on Sept. 25th that the rate was set to increase by $90/month in October!! That would bring the total charge for a 7x10 to $280/month!! My emils about this went unanswered. When I could actually find someone at the front desk they were of no help and could do nothing. Obviously, I could not tolerate an increase of this magnitude. Upon doing the due diligence that I should have done in the first place, I found a better, slightly larger unit for less than I had originally paid for this one. The company is better rated w/lower increases. This absurd increase forced me to rent a moving vehicle and to move which wasted an entire day. This was totally needless, a huge waste of time, money and effort and extremely frusturating. The icing on the cake was that when we moved yesterday there were rodent droppings in the unit and rodent urine on our items (see pics). As expected, despite a phone message and email - with photos - noting this, there was ZERO response back. They could care less. This place combines the worst of high prices, frequent, major rate hikes, zero customer service and rodent infested units. STAY AWAY! I hope that I can save you the time, expense, agrivation and disgust that we had to suffer through with this terrible company. ... Read more

If it weren’t for Tavis, I honestly don’t know how this location would function. He is the definition of professional — calm, courteous, and unflappable even when juggling multiple customers and situations at once. I’ve seen him handle everything from checking in new renters, answering detailed questions, cleaning the bathrooms, and resolving issues on the spot, all without missing a beat. He treats everyone with respect, listens carefully, and somehow makes each person feel like a priority even when the office is busy. Tavis is essentially running the entire customer experience here, and he does it with integrity and patience. He deserves recognition because he’s the one keeping this business running smoothly and making customers feel cared for. If you’re working with Tavis, you’re in excellent hands. ... Read more

Unfortunately the building is now kept at far too warm a temperature for "climate control". I'm sure the below ground levels are cooler, but we pay for climate control and the 3rd floor felt over 80 degrees last weekend. Sure it's summer, but we've had units on higher levels in Sterling and never felt it as warm as it is in our Reston unit. For what we pay (and yes they do raise rates every 6 months) it's unacceptable I no longer can store my shoes or other items effected by heat in this unit. I pulled a pair of heels out of a box and parts had begun to peel up. We need a place to put some of our belongings while we look to move, but will no be looking for alternatives to this unti. ... Inept front desk staff combined with a punitive rental increase policy that makes you wonder what kind of long game management is playing. The initial rate for a 10' x 8' unit was $152/mo. At the 6-month mark, they mailed (no email notification) a notice indicating a 40% increase. An identical unit for new customers is listed at $125/mo as a special rate ($179 regular monthly rate). Must be the latest trend in reverse loyalty program design. Bravo, team. ... Read more

It doesn't matter what price they tell you when you sign up. In a couple months they will raise it. They constantly increase prices. It's fine if you need it short term (a couple months). But I started about a year ago and now the price is almost tripled. I think they're playing the fact once you loaded the storage, you don't want to move out, so why not to increase the price? ... Website reservation, payment and paperwork was painless. Showed up to get the access code and put a lock on the storage unit and the person there was very helpful and efficient. Moving things in, she thoughtfully noticed that we were going to be making several trips back and forth from the truck, and set the automatic door so I wouldn't have to punch in my code every trip. Only been in the unit a few days, but signing up and moving in was seamless. ... Read more

The employee who helped us find the right size unit was very friendly and talked us through all the details we needed to know. She made sure we knew how to access the unit and get onto the property. Speaking of property, it is super clean and the air conditioning was perfect on the hot day we were moving. Highly recommend! ... Read more

Have had a unit at this location twice, Donte who works there has been so excellent helping me with everything, he helped me with shopping and viewing units and helps with questions asked. The place is always clean, secure and pretty quiet for the most part. Busy times can occur on weekends. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Self Storage Plus - 1808 Michael Faraday Court include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Self Storage Plus - 1808 Michael Faraday Court start from $39 and can go up to $650 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
