I have had my belongings at Affordable Mini Storage since April of 2023. I lost my husband during covid, still raising our 16 yr old son. So many memories, many of my children and husband. Irreplaceable memories. Heartbreaking! Household items, furniture, exspensive tools, a tool chest, all (now missing) so much that I couldn't fit in my new home or replace. I hoped at one point to get my belongings when I had a place for them. All along paying every month for over a year. I moved from a 1300sq foot home to a 900sq foot. I had no room for much of my belongings. I was informed in the middle of December, right before Christmas that my storage unit burned down. Pretty sure someone was living in the unit next to mine. Positive. My family had noticed this and we talked about it amongst outsevles before this happened. I was told I cannot go through my belongings and what might be recovered because it's condemned and I will be arrested. The owner also informed me that my payment was due and if i didnt pay, (even though all my belongings were burnt), that his insurance wouldn't cover my unit, so i paid him that day for my burnt storage unit. After continued calls trying to find out what the circumstances were, with no prevail, I went to look at my unit. I went there when I was first informed of the fire and was able to see what was still there to salvage. It was obviously ransacked and so many of my belongings that I could have recovered were stolen. Needless to say I was very upset. I had so many memories and things that are important to ME!! They called the police on me and had me arrested. Where were the police when my belongings were being stolen??? They have cameras. I am still waiting to hear when I can go through what is left. I Have not heard a word from them since this happened. Ive payed for a storage unit for over a year, that money is gone, and so are all my belongings and memories.
