I've been renting here at safe site clearfield for a few years. The staff have always been great to work with me when I can't remember my gate code or helping me through a tough couple months when my mother passed and I needed more storage for a few months. I just like to thank them again for being there when I need them. I would recommend this facility for all your storage needs. ... Read more

Update: Have had our unit for over a year now. Still great service and security. They were able to find a second unit for us when we needed it too. We have been renting a unit at Safe Site Storage for 2 - 3 months now. When I called, the office manager was quick to answer, gave clear information, and found the size unit I needed. When I went to view the unit, I was met on time and given a copy of the contract to review. My chosen passcode was already in the system. When I needed time to talk it over with my husband, they cheerfully said no problem. When I returned a couple weeks later, they again met me promptly. The unit was clean and in good repair. We were able to complete the paperwork there on site in 5 minutes. You are given a lock, and are also able to put on a second lock of your own. I was able to immediately load my belongings into the unit. The first time I went back to access my unit, I had trouble figuring out how to open the type of lock they give you. I called the office for help. Within 10 minutes, the on site manager arrived to help me, just as I figured out how to take the lock off myself. The manager was cheerful about the wasted trip. I like that you can pay online if you want to. Better price here than most in the area too. I would not have any qualms about recommending these storage units. Update: Still happy with our storage here. ... Read more

In late June of 2017, I rented a storage unit at the Safe Site location on Antelope Dr. in Clearfield. Safe Site insisted that their padlocks be on their units at all times, and the renters are given a key. Several weeks after renting the unit, I went there to get some items out to sell. The key did not work in the lock. The key turned, but the lock did not release from the pins that were built into a steel wall plate. I notified them of this issue on 3 different occasions. They assured me that they would “look into it.” They didn’t. Several weeks later, when I stopped by the unit to see if they had fixed the problem, the entire steel plate was lying on the ground, and our unit was completely unsecured. Additionally, there was a large hole under the fence opposite our unit that anyone could crawl through. When I asked if there were security cameras, so that we could see if anyone had accessed the unit, they informed me that they “didn’t have any.” I noticed, during that trip, that the owner and another worker were replacing rusted-out lock plates like mine… so today when I called them to get a key so I could (finally) get my stuff and move it to a reputable storage company, they demanded 2 months’ rent… for the time that a) I didn’t have access at all, and b) it was completely unsecured. When I told them that they had no right to charge me when I didn’t have access to my stuff (through no fault of my own), they literally laughed at me, told me to “read my contract,” and said “We stored it whether you had access or not, so you owe us.” When I asked for a street address for legal service, they refused, laughed again, and said, “That’s YOUR problem.” ... They require a mailed notice of termination, which I included with my last check. They claimed they never received it and then threatened to send me to collections. They are not onsite and don't return phone calls. I would recommend sending a certified letter when you terminate. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Safe Site Storage - 640 West 1700 South include the following amenities: Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Credit Cards Accepted, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
